    I've been Money Tipped!
Both myself and my hubby have so far never missed a single cashback from Mobileshop. Yes, we had to chase a few, but it only took one correctly worded LBA and they paid up within seven days every time.
So I would actually take that as a positive in recent times, although T&C's should HAVE to be honoured by both parties.
Because of Mobileshops problems I mistakenly took out a contract with CNM, and what a mistake that was. I have been paid two cashbacks so far, but had to fight for both and their CS is a disgrace. In my opinion they are unscrupulous traders at the very least, in fact all Mobile Affiliates companies seem that way.
My hubby has recently taken out a new contract with MS as he actually trusts them more than the rest. Of late their deals are not great and he seems to have got one of the last of the 12 months free deals from them.
Their T&C's are not great and it takes until month 6 to claim and is paid with 6 cashbacks which is a pain, along with 60 days to pay. But if they survive and pay then it will have cost nothing. The Quidco cash pays for all the postage etc and the phone was sold for £85 as it was not needed/wanted, which reduces the risk.
So, would I/we recommend Mobileshop???? The answer is YES, if you can get the right deal. Their CS still gives a good service.
All these deals are a gamble, some you win and some you lose, but it helps if you play your cards right.
To answer your question, it is not a "con" and apart from waiting for 1 last payment, due in around 5 weeks time, our family have had great value from MS. Some payments had to be fought for but the have been pu55ycats in paying - IMHO only.

Good luck, but getting the great deal from them is the hardest part.

  • mobileshop.com are in Fox covert lane, Misterton, Doncaster and have a hatch at the back of the building for all mail. It is signed for every day by the same person. Its a small company in a tiny village so I am not sure why RM cannot provide signatures. Glad I read this thread as I was considering using them.

    Just a tip to everyone.
Make your cashback claim following all their guidelines. They will confirm cashback claim received and they have 60 days to pay up. If you don't get anything by the 60th day, email them. You will get the standard automated "technical problem blah blah BS". Politely, email them back, this time giving them 7 days to make payment.
After 7 days without hearing anything from them, file a claim via www.moneyclaim.gov.uk. Add the £30 fee to the sum of the cashback they owe you. The court will notify them and that will get them moving faster than lightning. Expect payment (including the court fees) and a letter from Mobileshop within DAYS of you making a claim via moneyclaim.

They'd rather lose an extra £30 for every late cashback payment that is due. Strange way of thinking for a business but who cares, it works for us.

I too have had all my cashbacks paid by mobileshop but all of the ones this year have been between 1 to 6 weeks late. I have had to send several emails for each claim before they paid up. I will never use them again as I simply don't believe their technical problems excuse instead viewing cashflow problems as being the more likely cause.
Also they changed the terms and condtions of my contracts mid term when they increased the payout period from 45 days to 60 days(and could not even honour that!) so how can I ever trust them? I would be a fool to ever go with them again especially as they will be getting virtually zero repeat business after their disgraceful behaviour so putting the business in an even more perilous position.
One final reason to not use them is that their deals are crap these days anyway.
  • I received my first cashback claim albeit three months late and only after several e-mails and faxes (premium rate!!...and phone calls only resulted in more of their recorded messages claiming technical faults!) . The second claim they denied receiving; they did eventually confirm receiving the third claim and then tried the measly voucher offer (10% increase on actual cashback value).
I refused and requested (via e-mail that as a gesture of goodwill on my part I would be willing to accept a voucher no less than 300% (yes that's 300%) of the cashback claim; alternatively they (mobileshop.com 'customer service') should pay my actual cashback to me within seven days. I got it after four days.
Hope this helps (hopefully more of us won't be fobbed off).
    Regards.

Why did you wait 3 months for the 1st cashback. You'd have gotten it within a week if you went through moneyclaim.

Legal action is the best way to get our money. There's nothing to lose as they will pay for all the court fees and it's all done online.
  • They are without doubt the worst company I have dealt with in over 20 years, except of course for ideal TV but that is for another topic,I have a contract for my daughter with 02 via MS and have managed to obtain three cash-back payments from them after a good deal of fighting with them on the phone however the last cash-back payment is now nearly three weeks over due and ,frankly I am getting nowhere with them.

Have phoned twice now but have basically been told to accept the Argos vouchers or f---- off.The 'supervisor' told me that my claim should have been paid on 21 Sept but that they are paying out claimants just now from June which means I will be very lucky to receive my cash-back payment by the end of the year.

Yesterday I e-mailed them threating them with legal action but they haven't replied yet so I'll give them until the end of the week then start the legal action process.

People shouldn't have to be made to jump through interminable hoops in order to receive what is owed to them!

I have carried out my side of the bargain to the letter but frankly this company are well versed in messing their customers about, which at the end of the day is obviously company policy to ensure that customers simply give up on their cash-back claims.

This nonesense we are fed about 'technical difficulties' in relation to automated payments is frankly that, nonsense.

How many months have they been feeding people that particular line?Personally I have been getting told this load of old BS for over six months.

I wonder if the offer of Argos vouchers is another way of 'heading the posse of at the pass' as in a county court taking into account that they are offering to pay more than they are entitled too.

Totally fed up but won't be giving up however I doubt this company will still be in business by the end of the year.

    Tony.

Tony, don't wait until the end of the week - do it today.
The problems with MS seem to be with the ones who are prepared to wait.
Send a LBA today telling them they are in breach of contract, give them 7 or 10 days to send your delayed payments and tell them that failure to do so will result in you sueing via moneyclaimonline for all missing payments plus all costs involved. I always tell them that any payments received after my deadline day will need to include costs and to wait until they are contacted by moneyclaimonline and act accordingly. Both myself and my hubby have had no problems whatsoever using this method, although it's annoying.

    Best of luck,

    Lynsey
