I sent the LBA letter on Tuesday (special next day delivery), got a reply on Thursday/Friday saying that he is going to bank transfer the $$, I checked today, I've got the $$. However, I've lost out on the next day delivery £5 postage. I was a bit worried about my £50 cashback that I'm not considering the £5. Anyway, I still have 5 more cashback with them.. sigh.0

What are mobileshop.com up to? I signed up for their cash back deal on an 18 month O2 contract and sent my first six bills as requested. This was back in June 2007 and I've heard nothing! Surprise! Surprise! you can't contact them by phone and their standard website message is they've got computer problems and have some kind of backlog! Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is this a con? Any ideas how I can get money out of them?
I'm due to send my next 4 bills in a couple of months. Am I wasting my time?0 -
so for 2 months you did not act?
You should had chased them up earlier, you still can, call them up. There will be someone there on the phone.0 -
Ashley this has been going on for around a year now. Mobileshop used to be one of the best around but these days hardly anyone gets their cashback by the 60th day. You have to keep chasing them and even take them to the small claims court for your money. I have been paid all my cashbacks but I have had enough of their delaying tactics and obvious non-truths about their system troubles and have gone elsewhere for my new contract.
Although they are still around, a lot of us suspect that they are having troubles paying due to a cashflow crisis and have only remained afloat because of all their fobbing off.
Threatening them with moneyclaims if you want to see your cash and make sure you don't use them again.0 -
Hi
I have a 18mth contract with o2 through mobile shop with a half price line rental. I sent my first cash back claim, had an email to say it was approved but nothing since. I was thinking that I may be better just cutting loses and terminating my contract as I still have another 12mths to go, but I was wondering where I stood with O2?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated0 -
Don't ever cancel, you're problem is with Mobileshop and NOT with o2.
The answer is pretty simple, send a Letter Before Action (LBA) demanding your cashback within 10 days or you will sue via Moneyclaim online. Mobileshop normally pay up pretty easily, but don't delay.

I was waiting for 3 payments all over due, I had used them for the past 2 years and had no problems.
I googled it and got a name for the managing director.
I emailed them and stated I was going to write to said director, and expected payment etc, it was quite an amateur attempt, but it produced results as a staff member replied with a personal email address not generic stating that the name I had used left the company 3 years ago.
So, this time I found the proper (!) MD, and emailed her back direct, apologising for quoting the wrong name, and mentioning the proper name, and stating that I had spoke to trading standards and was giving them 10 days in which to respond. Within an hour I had had all three claims authorised and the money in my account the next day.

The problems start with any delayed payments with any company if it esculates. Deal with one cashback at a time and get it sorted ASAP - remember they have to abide by the T&C's as well. Once the T&C's are breached REACT, it's that simple.

hanmin, there is no need to pay for special delivery. In future just send Mobileshop any correspndence with basic recorded delivery which costs around £1.09. A big plus with Mobileshop is they accept copies of bills or bills can be faxed. LBA's don't need special delivery.
Best of luck with any future claims.

I waited patiently for a very long time. once I had sent them my 4th claim I had enough and sent them a Letter before Legal action. Within 2 days I recieved 3 of my claims; 2 overdue and one bang on time. I copied and pasted one of the letters another poster had typed up. I'm pasting it below for anyone who needs it. Hope this helps
Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Cashback No:
I write further to my e-mails dated 04/09/07 and 17/09/07 and live chat on 27/09/07 to which I have not received a satisfactory response.
I understand that my 1st Cashback claim was received by you on 01/05/2007, my 2nd cashback claim was received on 01/06/2007, my 3rd Cashback claim was received on 03/08/2007 and my 4th cashback claim was received by you 03/09/2007 .
I refer to Paragraph 6 of your Terms and conditions in relation to Cashback, in which you purport to process all cashback claims within 60 days from the valid claim date.
I am extremely concerned that my first 2 claims from my above-mentioned cashback claims remain outstanding after 150 days and 120 days respectively. This is clearly in breach of your Terms and Conditions and indeed your duty of care towards me as your customer.
You will note that I have fully complied with my obligations under the Terms and Conditions relating to your cashback claims process and I am therefore extremely dissatisfied by your inability to comply with the same.
I understand that you have recently experienced some difficulties with your cashback system, however, I should not have to suffer financial loss as a result. I have been unable to contact you by telephone since approximately April 2007 as you have prevented telephone queries through the use of a recorded message regarding the difficulties you have experienced in relation to cashback claims. My e-mails to you have been responded with a standard apology both times.
I entered into a contract with you in good faith and in reliance of your terms and conditions in relation to processing of my cashback claims. As a result of my reliance on this contract, I have suffered financial loss and have wasted time and effort in pursuing my claims.
In the circumstances, I am obliged to inform you that should I not receive the full value of both my 1st and 2nd Cash back claim within the next 10 days, I shall be pursuing legal action against you in respect of the same, without further notice to you.
Should it become necessary for me to commence legal proceedings against you, I shall be seeking an Order that you are responsible for my costs of the same.
Should you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me on
I would strongly recommend that you obtain independent legal advice as to the contents of this letter and I look forward to hearing from you or your chosen legal representative within the next 10 days.
Yours faithfully,
0
