  • My OH had a contract with mobileshop and received his first stage claim on time. After that he had nothing but emails stating about the delays they were having and offering him vouchers instead.

Eventually I managed to have a couple of live chat sessions with "Carole" and a phone call with the cash back manager threatening them with court action they paid up the full amount within 3 days.

Think I might have to try this Live Chat thing, this company was one of the reasons why I've given up on chasing cash backs this year - too much hassle! Was tempted to just take the vouchers as I need a few things in argos. They have been really bad in the last year - not sure what happened to them - guess they had too many people claiming their cash backs - when I signed they had very reasonable T&Cs and the tracking system is a good idea, but its all for nothing if you don't actually get the cash back.
  • I've recently sent two letters to Mobileshop.com. One was demanding payment of delayed cashback and the second was submitting my last cashback claim.

Both letter were sent by Royal Mail Recorded delivery and neither have been signed for by mobileshop.com.

I know that the second letter has definitely been received by them.

Is anybody else having a similar experience?
  • None of the letters I've sent to Mobileshop.com by RM Recorded post have ever been signed for. If I was you I would:

    (a) complain to RM. They will pretend they don't know what has happened but it is clear that they just hand over the sack without getting signatures. Still, you should get a book of stamps off them in compensation. Don't give up your receipt of posting though.

    (b) pursue your action against Mobileshop on the assumption they have received your letter. I presume you have threatened them with legal action - I had to do this to get my last 3 cashbacks in a timely manner. If they don't respond in your timescales, lodge a claim in the County Court/MCOL.

If you contact RM over the missing items they may be able to provide written confirmation that they have been delivered (though not actually provide proof of signature). When they make bulk deliveries of recorded items they do have an alternative logging system which they never seem to update their on line tracking system with.

If they cannot confirm delivery, then you can ask for compensation, and they send you a book of stamps for each item lost.

if done properly it should still update as delivered but without prrof of signature

    You're right.

But I regularly find on making telephone enquiries that mail (as shown on the RM website as not yet delivered) has in fact been delivered and they send me a print out as proof through the post (or via e-mail).

Any suggestions on how to escalate this within RM?

I too have experinced this problem with RM over mobileshop. They sign letters but the website shows as item not still delivered after several weeks and even still now.
  • Mobileshop.com is recommended on this site but for approx 8 months they have not been honouring their cashback. They say they have had technical difficulties -does it take this long to sort them out? I don't think so! I'm sure this is some sort of con, has anyone out there been given their money back?
