  • Ah I see. So when it says 12 months free it means you have to apply for the money back? (Which seems like hassle reading previous posts)

That is exactly right! In previous years you only needed to apply for the cashback 3 or 4 times in 12 months but I believe it is now almost every other month which means you will have to deal with even more hassle and frustration that you get when you try and claim a cashback off mobileshop.
A year ago they were quite rightly regarded as one of if not THE best companies around. Now though they are one of the worst and I would be tempted to say that you would have to be a fool to trust them. Stay away if you can until they start paying out on time for an extended period of months. Only then will I be able to give them the benefit of the doubt.
  • Thanks for the tip!!! Will try somewhere else, I can't be bothered with the hassle!

Indeed. It will be the best thing for you.
If it takes begging and legal action to get the money they owe us, might as well warn others to steer clear from these people.

I've just my final cashback in my account.

My first 2 cashback claims (all of £90) came through without much of a problem (although they were late and I had to remind them)

My third cashback claim (due back 30th of April) arrived after being more than 50 days overdue. After countless emails, several phone calls (before an automated message came up) and online chats they just responded with the usual technical problems crap. (I work in IT and believe me no company that relies so heavily on IT, would not have a failsafe plan that would get them up and running in a couple of days. Even if they didn't have a failsafe plan there is no way it would take them over 10 months to sort it out). Sorry just had to get that off my chest. I then sent them a letter ordering legal action against them by email and the same day I got an email saying that the cashback would be processed and be put into my account within 7 days. I used an excellent template by mookiandco at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=5331703&postcount=333.

My Final cashback was due on the 31/07/2007. Surprisingly!! I hadn't received it by the time stated. I wasn't going to wait around this time. So I emailed them giving 7 days to respond where I got the usual technical crap again. I went on the online chat saying that I would be ordering MS to a summons if they didn't give me a definitive date which they didn't. So I emailed them on Tuesday 14/08/2007 with the amended template ordering legal action where I got the technical response again. So I sent them the letter by recorded delivery on Wednesday 15/08/2007 and on the Thursday I got an email confirming that I will receive my final payment within 7 days. Still 16 days overdue.

It looks like MS don't like the idea of going to court and it looks like the only way to get our money out of them while they are still trading is to threaten them with legal action.

I'm so happy that I will never have to deal with them again.

For everyone that still has cashbacks outstanding from MS don't give in to the Argos vouchers (unless you want them). The money is rightfully yours.

And anyone fortunate enough not to have dealed with this company, ignore there new to good to be true 12-month deals. Unless you like a challenge and don't mind losing money.

    Good luck to everyone

I expect them to pay up during the 14 days which will conclude the matter.

Your expectations were met - cheque arrived at the weekend for the costs.

I have used them successfully for several years and always put my cashback claims in in time. They paid regularly til this year when in march and then 2 other months they have not paid up when they should.
On calling and speaking to someone on the sales line I said I would not take out another contract until the first 3 were paid.
    guess what......
  • Hello all,

I sent a claim through money claim on Sunday, and today got 3 e-mails confirming my 3 cashbacks will be paid into my account. I have a further question. The 3 e-mails were automatically generated. Will they automatically put the £30 it cost me to claim into my account aswell?

    Many thanks.

You should let the claim continue, and if they don't pay you the £30, then request judgement for the balance remaining from your claim once the time has passed when they can submit any defence.

(Don't contact them direct yourself, now that your summons has been issued).
