Hi just joined the site after being told about this process to reclaim the money that the banks have been screwing out of my family for years. I live in Northern Ireland and have just 2 Q.
Can i only claim within the last 6 year period or can i pick a period of 6 years within the last 10?
If i start my claim now, will the new report from the OFT due out effect my claim or will the fact that i started this process to reclaim my money before the report make a difference.

You can only claim for the last 6 years.

Ok, have had court dates for both Abbey and Natwest so am now on the final straight.
By the end of April I will be £3000 better off and sunning myself on a beach all thanks to the banks returning the cash that ive been "saving" for the last 6 years.
Anyway, just a quick note to say that I have 2 court dates and I am still 100% confident! In fact I have been looking forward to the court dates because I know that I have followed all steps 100%. Bring it!
I will update as soon as I get the cash back ;~)
Good luck all!

Can anyone help?
I set up an MCOL claim on the 27/2/07. I am at the stage now were my claim has been acknowledged and the letter from the court states that the defendant (HSBC) intends to defend all the claim and states something about the 28 days to file a defence.
The question is - do i do anything now? or just wait to see what happens?0 -
Hi we bank with rbs and have got a poor credit rating and we are scared to reclaim bank charges because they may take our 2k overdraft off us or close our account. they gave uis a 5k loan last year and we are still in credit and dont really want to change banks though we have had a lot of charges i would say mounting upto about 2k over the last 6 year.0

I would go for it if I were you. I don't think RBS have been closing many accounts but if worst cam to worst, the 2,000 in charges would clear your overdraft.
Click the following link which is for RBS only where you can see other peoples experiences with them:

No one can say for sure whether your account will be closed. If your charges are likely to be less than the amount outstanding on your overdraft, you may want to wait until you're in a better position.
As long as payments are up to dat, the loan shouldn't be touched as this is covered under a seperate agreement.0 -
