Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

  • As a First Direct user I have had no problems in the past reclaiming charges where I've gone over my overdraft limit briefly. Just a quick phone call complaint and they've refunded.

Last month, however, First Direct stuck their heels in and gave only a partial refund, even though I had only bust my overdraft limit for less than 24 hours on two occasions.

Sent a letter, as outlined here, and received a refund of £55 by return of post. They claimed they were within their rights to charge according to their banking agreement but wished to settle out of court.

Has anyone else requested statements from First National and if so, what address did you use?

    Hi,

Another (small) success. Claimed £80-odd from HBOS, which included interest. Got £75 :)

    Thanks Martin

    Can anyone help?
I set up an MCOL claim on the 27/2/07. I am at the stage now were my claim has been acknowledged and the letter from the court states that the defendant (HSBC) intends to defend all the claim and states something about the 28 days to file a defence.
The question is - do i do anything now? or just wait to see what happens?

kp - You don't need to do anything, HSBC have acknowledged your claim and state they intend to defend (they almost certainly won't!) and therefore have 28 days in which to file their defence. The court will advise you if they file a defence and will forward necessary papers for you to complete. In my experience (and many others) you'll receive some sort of offer prior to the 28 days coming up. If HSBC do nothing, in 28 days you can request judgement and get your mone anyway.

So just hang in there for now! Lou

  • Hi there, i have got all the information together to send off to Barclays to get the ball rolling. This account is closed, so should I write to the branch where the account was held or the head office? If it's the head office, does anyone have the address.

    Cheers
