I would go with that option and give them 7 days before you start the court action. Check your account incase they have paid the money in then you would say you accept the offer in part payment and without prejudice and are going to court.

    Many thanks Edinburghlass,

Is that seven days from my Letter prior to action (and if so, is that seven working days?), or seven days from me sending a letter saying that I will not accept their offer?

I have checked my account and it is still £0.00 (I cleared the overdraft and transferred everything to my new A&L account before starting the claim ;) )

    Cheers,
    Stu
  • Have an Account with Lloyds and just waiting for my statements to be sent, so that I may calculate my charges. Completley terrified as I expect my charges are in excess of £6K! I now dread the 1st of each month but I have at least £175.00 of bank charges!!!! With the amount im reclaiming being so high am I more likely to end up in court!? Does anyone the sucess rate of higher claims?

Have opened a new parachute account with Halifax. Any words of encouragement would be highly appreciated :-)
  • Bank: Halifax
    Amount claimed: £30
    Amount received: £30

I claimed this on behalf of my sister. Only took one letter and they paid up immediately. They have told her if she goes overdrawn again, though, they will be closing her account.
With all of my dietary restrictions, I'm left with lipstick and water

I'm not sure how Barclays handle the claims, have a skim through the Success Stories and the Barclays thread and see if you get a feel for what they are doing. At the moment it seems, for instance, that RBS are paying out the full amount on the second letter whereas Lloyds are happy to allow it to go to court.

As you have sent out the usual letters perhaps get the above suggested letter into the post this weekend and give them until Friday then you can start on MCOL next w/end if you don't get the response you want.

You might like to take a look at: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=309301 for claims of £5K and over. Good luck with it! :)

Can someone please tell me if they have received the same reply as I have for bank statemnets from Halifax. I sent a recorded delivery letter to Halifax on Monday Morning 26th Feb, On Tuesday morning I logged onto the Royal mail website and confirmed the letter had been delivered. I then Phoned up the bank on Thursday to see if my request was being looked into. I was told they had not received my letter. I then explained they had received it via recorded delivery and I had proof. They then told me to phone back on Friday morning when it would have most definately been requested and show on the computer screen. So I did that and Again was told it was not received after going through the same as the previous day they told me to phone them today. I phoned them this morning only to be told I now have to wait until friday 9th March before they can tell me if they received my request for statements or not. Can anyone tell me if they have recieved the same response. I was thinking that if it does not show on there system monday morning I will cancell the 10 pounds cheque and request statements over the phone. What do you think I should do. Please

Thanks again Edinburghlass! From what I've seen, Barclays seem to try every delay tactic under the sun and rarely pay out in full until they hear the judge putting his wig on! I'll get a letter off this weekend and see if it gets me anywhere further. If not I'll start on MCOL.

Think I (and every other member on here) owe you a pint for all your help, thanks  :)

I have written the downloaded letter to the Nationwide to start the process of reclaiming my bank charges. I am now getting angry as my letter has been returned to me with the copies of relevant bank statements. Unlike any one else on this forum that I can make out I have been asked to visit the Nationwide where I bank in order for them to make sure that my signature is mine!!! I need to know if anyone can shed any light on why all of a sudden my identity is being questioned, I assume the obvious that it is to put me in my place and an attempt to intimidate me?
Would it now be acceptable to put on the charges for the bus fare into town in order to do this???
  • I sent a letter to Lloyds-TSB asking for the refunds of my charges (mainly in the last 2-3 year, circa 5300), they sent me (after over 5 weeks) a generic letter telling me how fair their charges are and how I should manage my account better and that they would not respond any further on this matter. They are still banging on charges and I have had enough so I have filed a claim with the courts thru the moneyclaim site. Had anybody any experience with this sort of thing, or with Lloyds-TSB. Some people I know got paid out by other banks without a problem but TSB have just snubbed me on this.
My credit rating is as bad as it could, what are my options for a parachute account? My financial is pretty unique in that I am expecting investments but have no control over when I will get them (expected soon, have waitied and struggled a long time) but what is the likely outcome of this - I am annoyed with Lloyds-TSB, I really really need this money back ASAP

P.S. Just out of interest, my "offer" letter came from:

    Retail Banking Customer Relations
    PO BOX 449
    Swansea
    SA1 5WY

whereas I originally sent both of my letters to

    Customer Relations
    Barclays Bank PLC
    1 Churchill Place
    London
    E14 5HP

Do you think I should reply to the Swansea or the London address this time?
