But now just yesterday i got the letter from Nat west as well telling me that also were giving me back the £1570 they they had taken from me in the last 3 years.
Thanks Martin keep up the good work:T

My initial letter sent to NAt West 17 Jan. They replied 14 days later offering 1700 which was well below charges being claimed. Sent further letter giving them 7 days to respond without prejudice saying would settle for 2000 - there have been a further 150 charges since that letter sent! - 7 days was up last Friday but heard nothing. Called them this week several times to be told they have no record of my letter 8 Feb. I sent a copy of this "as matter of courtesy" given them till next Friday 2March to respond. In view of the propgramme last night with Martin - he was bril !! - Im wondering if banks are now dragging their heels waiting for decision from FSA as they might not have to repay as much if the charges "capped" at 12 pounds. As Iv sent a letter giving them til next Friday - albeit as matter of courtesy - would I be better now to put this online to small claims this weekend to try and sort out before this "ruling" takes place???? What I mean is can I start the court process even though Iv given them til next Fri to respond. To confirm this was only a copy of the letter sent over a week ago to which they havnt bothered to respond. Cheers JNat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!
HSBC - sent 14 day - still waiting for reply. MCOL by end of week - claiming 795 - eventually paid out £560.
Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA0 -
After being with the Halifax for 18 years i wonder why i have stuck with a bank so long that is as unhelpful and has very little scope of what customer service actually is.
Now i am getting more and more annoyed each time i see that baldheaded berk  with the round glasses doing somersalts on our TV screens, thinking that my bank charges must have somehow been to finance some mini hollywood advertising epic!
Right, now thats off my chest the question i would like answering if possible is this: I am attempting to claim about £1800 pound back from the Halifax. I have followed Martins advice to the letter, using all supplied templates. I have got to stage 3 where i have sent the letter asking for my money back and have recieived a reply, part of which i will now quote.
"We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the charges debited to your bank account. Please note the complaint handling rules set by our regulator, the FSA, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints."
It then goes on to say they will be carrying out a thourough investigation, and if they are unable to respond fully to my concerns they will contact me within the next 4 weeks to update me of their progress.
Now... having had my card cloned about 4 years ago i know how quick the Halifax work and that took nearly 6 months to sort!
What do i do folks, do i sit back and relax and let the process take its course, or do i fire a broadside and go to stage 4....
All sensible replies, gladly accepted.
Thanks

You move on to the next stage provided you stick to your time scale.0 -

If you have given them until next Friday you need to wait until then.0 -

Thanks for replying so quickly! I did give the bank 7 days to repond to my letter which was up last week - nothing heard from them - the letter sent yesterday was merely enclosing a copy of that original - do I still have to wait til Friday? Do we know when there might be a decision by the FSA? PS. Thanks for all the hard work you guys putting into this site - whenever Iv been on the site - you lot always here with help and advice - bril job!!!!Nat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!

I would have said yes start now but you said you gave them another date so I would think you need to stick to that date? Which bank are we talking about as it maybe that your second letter may produce an offer!
and thank you0 -
Hi all.
I'm still very new to this site so apologies if I appear a little 'green'.
My question is being asked after looking through the different threads and I've been unable to find an answer yet.
I know I can reclaim charges on current accounts but does anyone know if I can reclaim charges on business accounts? HSBC are charging a fortune and I don't want them to get away with it.
Thanks.
