If you can all give me a bit of time I'm just going to go back through this thread to answer some of the new questions. Meantime, have a read of Martin's article and the Reclaim Help Thread, both linked in my signature.0

After being charged £30 for a failed debit card transaction(was £1.30 short) I am considering reclaiming charges from Nationwide. However who will give me a debit card account when I have a slightly!!! dodgy credit score. Also 1. will Nationwide play difficult with my morgage, 2. Close my savings account. 3. Close my wifes basic account.
Just as a further note about Nationwide , due to a "Admin error" by them they have not been taking the correct morgage payments for the last 3 months
result we are over £600 in arrears. They are demanding it be brought up to date
do I have to pay interest on the arrears?.
Guys your help would be greatly appreciated.
PS. just sent DPA letter to Capital One credit card.0 -
Bank: Abbey National
Ammount reclaimed:£685
Ammount recieved:£690!
Its taken 6 months but I'm so pleased to finally add my success story! I ended up going through MCOL. They filed their defence with just one day to go AND they didn't put enough postage on my copy so I had to pay £1.05 to find out their settlement offer for more than the full ammount! And they forgot the clause about not sueing again!0 -

I can understand that some people do run on the bread line and do dip into the red and the banks do profiteer. But isn't it true that over the top spending goes on. I thought that it was unlawful to pay for items either by cheque or debit card knowing full well that they don't have the funds to cover it. Or is it?
Chajun, are you finding this difficult to comprehend? Why are you on this web site in the first place??? Surely your here to save money due to endless goverment costs and general cost of living. When banks screw you over as the cost of sending a letter is not proportionate to the actual cost, it makes you realise we all have a case. If you feel that strongly about it, don't claim...
I'm assuming you have charges otherwise you would not be on here.

No not finding it difficult to comprehend. Just after tonights programme in certain cases it was an open invitation to try it on. By the way free speech is allowed on here I take it!!!!0

Hi I am new...have been reading all the info and followed all the steps but am a bit confused, (doesnt take much mind).. I am going through natwest to get my charges back, i asked for my statements, they replied with a nice letter, i replied with a copy of the template on here with a full breakdown of charges on the 21st last month, i then received a letter saying they were looking into it...then heard nothing, i have just sent the letter talking about taking them to court but now starting to get a bit scared...what do i do, and how do i take them to court....0

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am currently going through cccs debt company helping me pay off my loans. My loan has been moved from hsbc to a debt company now, does that mean i can claim all my penalties back from hsbc even though i havent a bank accound with them anymore(I added it up and they owe me 9300)
can anyone help me please
regards
im in the same situation! logically speaking they are still chasing us for the balance of what we owe them including all charges, so if we paid them back in full tomorrow we would still be due a charge refund surely, and not forgetting the impact of all this on our credit rating etc I would be happy for my old banks to refund the charges against the debts, seeing as though most of my debt is because of charges anyway! Hope ive made sense. Good Luck with everything xx:T This site is great! Thanks to Martin Lewis & everyone who participates and helps so many people! Without you all, where would we be ??:T

It struck me that according to one of the solicitors on tonights show that the banks DONT WANT TO GO TO COURT because if the courts impose regs on them then the banks would have to be controlled by the laws imposed on them. (Did I hear correctly?)
That being the case then shouldn't i claim for a £30 bank charge and ALSO £1000 compo for the stress and worry, this overcharge has caused me and ALSO £1000 for my time and trouble in preparing this claim and go all of the way to court if they don't cough up.
Surely the sky's the limit if they are that determined to not have to face the judiciary?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
