  • Hi there,

I've just recently watched the itv tonight program about RECLAIMNG BANK CHARGES. I bank with Natwest and have an overdraft facility of £3000 but I've had to help my mom financially as she's going through tough times at the moment. 've been on the red for quite sometime now and have eventually accepted the £30 monthly charge on my account. I d eeive though that having agreed with the bank I shouldn't have to pay so much on interests for something that the bank claims is there way of helping you. t may sound ignoran but I am not sure if an Overdrawn agreement is som form of loan. Please can you advise on wether or not I can reclaim? Thanks
  • Hi
Has anyone tried to make a claim against the student loans people? They have charged me loads for sending letters over the years.
  • I have just received an Ex Gratia payment today into my Lloyds Tsb Account for £685 without any formal written offer(My Claim is for £1126.58 plus Court costs). At present my claim is in the early Court Stage ( on the 21/02/07 my Claim was acknowledged by the defendant).Does any body have any tips on the most appropriate next step?!I am of the mind to continue with the Claim as an ex gratia payment seems to be an admission.
  • Like totosean, I too have an account with Nat West which I have had for 15 years. I had an agreed overdraft of £2250 which I never touched up until 2002 when I found myself in financial difficulty. I then got pregnant (wonderful for me but caused other problems) and its gone downhill from then on. I have been at my max on the overdraft and been charged £40 per month since 2002 for the privelage of being in the red. My question is, this charge is interest for my agreed overdraft so since 2002 I have paid around £3k if not more, surely I am not able to reclaim this charge back? I do not use this account anymore I just make sure I pay £40 into it every month to cover their charges. Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Cheers & good luck to everyone else that is reclaiming their charges. x

    Hi .

The Claim was ackowledged by the Bank on 21 Feb 07 so in very early stages. I am interested to know of any other similar experiences and what action to take next. I am of the mind to continue and claim the full amount as I thought an ex gratia payment is admissible?!

Have a look on the Lloyds bank thread in this forum. I received £750 ex gratia today for a claim of £1200 plus court costs. I am proceeding with my claim and hope to get everything back. I was told today (assuming you have filed with MCOL) that I need do nothing further, just wait until the 28 days is up (the bank acknowledged) which is 11th March. I can then issue a judgement by default.

  • Many thanks Tiff,

I have everything in process with MCOL so really appreciate the info. Sounds like we will be celebrating on the same day!!!

    Cheers

  • My son has been charged over £500, he is with the Nationwide Building Society and they have refused to refund any of the charges. Are the rules the same for building societies as banks?

    RECLAIM UNFAIR LIBRARY CHARGES!!!!!

    HOW ABOUT IT, MARTIN?

(We want to claim back about £5 for the last six years) :rotfl:
  • Hi all.

Firstly well done to everyone involved and helping on this site, and well done to everyone who is finally taking a stand.

I have never been on a forum before and have spend ages on here reading and learning.

Sorry for being a bit of a numb nut. But i have just had my letter of goodwill back from the Halifax offering me £264.13 out of £741.03.

I am willing to go all the way with this as I cant stand the way big companies treat individuals.
I was just wondering what the next step is i have read martins tips but being blonde, (hAhA) seemed to be lost.

Is this the part where i have to go to the HMCS online and file court action?

Sorry for not getting it.. would appreciate any help

    A real newbie... :rotfl:
