Can anyone tell me as to whether business account charges can be recliamed? I used to bank with Barclays who were most unhelpful. They wouldn't lend me any money to assist in the setting up of my business, even though I funded 10k of it and they insisted that would match whatever was invested by myself in the first place. After this, they would not give me an overdraft. I was charged over £500 in one month for an unauthorised overdraft, yet I have written to them asking for details of all charges on my account and have as yet, over one month later, to receive a reply. Also, can anyone tell me as to whether charges from a now closed account with a different bank can be reclaimed? Thanks, Kat.0

Nat West claimed £1586 - received full amount
Halifax claimed £480 - received £386 with 1 letter!
Halifax claimed and received £1206
Norwich and Peterborough claimed and recieved £380
Other half's Natwest £1202 recieved
just waiting for my last nat West account £1386, I have took the claim to the court and we have both entered a defence, so just waiting for the court date, oooer, I am hopefull though.
Cheers to this site and all its willing helpers!

I filed my claim at the County court at the beginning of January (against Lloyds TSB) I have just received notification that they intend to defend the claim. As far as I have been told so far, no bank has actually taken any claim all the way to a court. Is this still the case? I will go to court if necessary but if anyone else has had to "go the distance" any advice would be welcome.
Thanks.0 -
Im in the process of useing the template letter to inform the bank that I’ll be taking court action if it doesn’t settle. It asks for the name of the court, to which court does this refere.0

You can either take this out of the template or put in the name of your local court.0 -

First of all can I just ask you to email [Removed by Forum Team] to change your user name as unfortunately spammers do trawl forums such as this to harvest email address. If you tell them I asked you to change this and give them a choice of 2/3 user names you would like.
You can claim back on a business account, have a read of this thread.

You can also claim on a closed account going back 6 years from now.0 -
hi all i'm new on here, i wrote a letter to my bank in jan, got reply this morning saying i'm not entitled to a refund as i should've ensured the money was in my account b4 the direct debits, etc were due to be taken out, they said it's my responsibility to make sure funds were available and that they are well within their legal rights to charge me 35 quid for each transaction that sends me overdrawn - can anyone help me on this pls, donna xx0

MSE_Martin wrote:This thread is especially to report your successes taking on the banks to reclaim unfair charges. The aim is to show others that it is possible and it works. Please report your successes here, if possible in the format
Bank: Natwest
Amount Reclaimed:820
Amount they paid:820
The story: easy really just sent them 1st letter asking for all charges back and they responded within a few weeks refunding the full amount.
Halifax
amount reclaimed: 293
amount they paid: 263
easy again sent 1st letter and they replyed within a month. Got 263 as i complained before and got £30 as a gesture of good will so they deducted that.
