Wise to give the bank a few more days to reply rather than rush to court proceedings or give them a phone call.

If you are going to court you need to have read of this website.

you have to ask for 6yrs of statements plus you pay a small fee for this i think is about a tenner then you sit down and count all the charges they have taken of you you will need to sit down when you see what they have taken in my case i have been oftered £851 from the Halifax but i,m not going to settle for that when they owe me £1.400 so my court date with them is 26th march so i will keep this site updated thats how you get to find out what your owed!!!!! so good luck i Have contected my local paper about this and they will be coming to court with me if it goes that far

Nice one. I have also contacted my local paper and they have already published a piece on this and are following the court case. I know this sounds vindictive, but i hope mine goes to the wire and i have to issue bailiffs! :D Probably my luck will be settle at the last minute.

Good luck with yours, keep us all informed on how you get on.

  • Hi All,

    From Barclays:

    Claimed: £1030
    Refunded:£560

They first gave me all the Jargon about them being within the law and terms & conditions were explained to me on opening the account, then they said they would without admitting liability refund £560.00 without any further action, although most of you would probably have stuck it out and fight for the full amount, I was happy with this, as I didn't want to end up with nothing!!

Thanks Martin, for supplying the templates + information for me to have the confidence to do this in the first instance. Your one in a million!

Received a letter from Halifax yesterday offering £1180.00, with a telephone number to call if I wasn't happy.
5 minute phone call later, (I wasn't happy) and I was offered £1684 (mentioned moneysavingexpert.com once or twice!!). Now I'm happy.

Quite a few of my work collegues have been waiting to find out what my outcome was going to be. Have let them all know and a flurry of letters requesting a list of bank charges have now gone off!

  • Hello all I am new here but have the same problem as most of you, when you write to the bank, do you write to the manager of your branch? or do you write to the C.E.O of the Bank, in my case it would be TD Banknorth here in theUnited States, thanks in advance
