  • Edinburghlass - Do these guidelines also apply to a Business Account where for example the person runs a small 1-2 man business and has had bank charges made for being overdrawn? Or does this current campaign deal solely with 'personal' accounts?

It can apply to some charges on business accounts although not charges that are made just because it is a business acount such as annual charges, have a read of this thread...

  • Bank - Abbey
    Total owed - £185
    Total got back - £185

The letter works, dont call just write, I called and we had a big row where they were saying that everything was above board - which it obviously wasnt!! I wrote to complain with the template letter and today I got one back apologiising with the money. They do put in the letter that the bank charges are lawful... if thats the case then why did I get it back in the 1st place then/ Why didnt they fight for the money if it was in fact me in the wrong?!!! :T

  • I'm claiming £3158 from the Halifax and they sent me a letter with an offer of £1600. I was really pleased with the offer but I rejected it and continued to send the threat of court action letter.

Now I'm thinking I've done the wrong thing and won't get anything at all - I'm a bit in a panic and I've been so strong up til now!!! :undecided

Have I done the wrong thing?
  • hi just worked bank charges out for last six years do i list thease as 30.00 each item and date or for example 105.00 on date was charges.
  • Individually as you will need to put a description against each charge.
  • Have just been charged £34.00 for a late payment by my mortgage company. Can I reclaim this back?

    Help appreciated.
  • NatWest
    Claimed £429.12 inc interest
Offered £383 (without interest, which I accepted for speedy finish)

All it took was the one initial letter requesting the money & I got what is obviously a standard letter offering it to me.......Hurrah!
AND, I am generally making full use of my overdraft facility, so don't let that put you off. They merely said that 'if you are unwilling to accept administration charges which accrue in the future......we may need to consider if we are prepared to continue offering you the flexibility you enjoy with your current banking arrangements'.

Hmmm. Shame. I'll have the money thanks!

  • Hi All,
Have received a letter from Lloyds this morning as a gesture of goodwill lol have agreed to pay £750 of the £2111 I am claiming. They say this is the final response from the bank and if I want to pursue it further will have to go to the Financial Ombudsman. What happens now. Any advice greatfully appreciated as usual.

  • As they may well pay this amount into your account shortly you need to write back saying you will accept this in part payment of your claim but you are now going to start court proceedings.

  • I have a 24 grand loan with my bank and i want to reclaim my charges. It's unlikely any other bank will take on my loan.

If i claim back my charges, and if the bank closes my account, what will happen with my loan. Will i have to pay it off in full?
