jennyowen wrote:Hi all,
I'm about to send letters off to my credit cards to ask for lists of charges. Do you think it would be better to send the £10 fee as cash or cheque?? Any help VERY gratefully received.
Jenny xx
Send it by cheque. You have proof that you paid then.:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"

Bank: HALIFAX
Amount Reclaimed: £2,767.59
Amount they paid: £2,767.59
The story:
Initially claimed £2,263.00 plus £384.59 interest. Offered me £1,643.00 I took this to the small claims court via Money Claim On Line which cost me £120.00. The Halifax have today agreed to pay me everything I claimed i.e. £2,647.59 plus the court fee. It should be in my bank in 5 working days. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Taking a lead from my Dad I have always disputed charges on my accounts as soon as I notice them and have always won. Yesterday Intelligent Finance agreed to not charge me £30 for a rejected Direct Debit that would have taken me £120 over my overdraft limit (despite there being plenty of money in my other accounts). After a rap over the knuckles and a warning that this is the only time they'll do it, they agreed to not levy the charge. I've never had an account closed on me and only once had to suggest that I would think about moving an account if they were going to be unreasonable (that was a sainsburys credit card)
I wonder if it's easier to get them to agree not to apply the charge in the first place rather than have to claim it back?0 -
Hi there.
I am currenlty in lots of debt to 3 credit cards, one loan and one overdraft with a bank.
I am aware that I am an idiot but I think that at least half of the debt is charges for late payment and being over my credit limit.
I lost my job in November and missed 3 payments with all my creditors.
I have been in touch with national debt line and have set up a payment plan to start paying these off.
My question is even though I am in a situation where I have missed payments - my credit rating is in tatters, can I still try to recalim all the previous charges?
Will it make my situation worse? I can not use any of the credit cards or bank account and have already opened a new bank account. So they can not cut off my current money supply.
Will me reclaiming get me into more trouble with the creditors or is it worth doing? If I were sucessful it may cut my debts in half!
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -
Edinburghlass - Do these guidelines also apply to a Business Account where for example the person runs a small 1-2 man business and has had bank charges made for being overdrawn? Or does this current campaign deal solely with 'personal' accounts?0

I would not think it would make it worse, but maybe someone who is in the same situation as yours could help better.
My opinion would be, it would make you better off, as all the money you get back you could pay your debts off faster.
Maybe you could speak with the NAtional Debt Line and see what they have to say.
Good luck:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"
