Claimed: £1085 + interest
Received £1530
They dragged it out.
Initial letter was refused categorically, took them to court, they defended. Asked for info (despite not policy of small claims track) from me, declined to send other than a repeated request for my charges back. Eventually offered me £700.
Declined, and asked for it all. Then my local court moved to strike the bank's defence as 'an abuse of process' as the judge was fed up with cases being settled just in time.
NatWest (Cobbetts) had no choice. They sent me a cheque. Now, where's that notice of discontinuance?Rolling Total £317,636-53 keep it going!Claiming against Nationwide £2500Others to come!0 -

Hey
Bank: HFC
Amount Reclaimed:£480
Amount they paid:£340
i realised that in my last six months of my final year of university i managed to incur £280 worth of charges i was shocked that it was this much. I managed to get the balance below the credit limit and though nothing about it til i saw martin discussing reclaiming bank charges on telly. so i wrote a letter asking for the charges back and rather swiftly i had a reply for half which i accepted as i was pleased to get any amount back and was quite new to this. Thouugh after reading the success stories on this website, i decided to do it again for the charges i had incurred since the account was open, which was another £200 pounds again i recieved an offer for half which i though yeah i take but after reading a few more stories i though i press on so i wrote the second letter and today without the need to go to court they offered me £200. i would say you should try to get all your money back but if you cant deal with the stress accepting part isn't failure.
Bank: Barclays
Amount reclaimed: £85
Amount recieved: £85
wrote the standard first letter two weeks later money was in the bank
still got two more banks to hear from: halifax are playing a waiting game send a letter today saying i should heard by march 13th (lucky for some),
and capital one offer me the the difference between the charge and the twelve pounds which added up to £190 in their figures, mine make it £218 i wrote back and said i wouldn't accept this as the charges are more then the amount i owe of i would just like to the account to be closed im sure the debt freedom will be great im not going worry about a few quid
hope this inspires just one person

after listening to martins programme on j vines show in november i decided to have a go myself.i wrote to my local rbs asking them to supply me with details of charges over the last 6 years they said they where unable to do so but would supply me with statements for that period.they gave contact details of the person at head office to contact i did this and enclosed a cheque for £5 for the statements.when the statements arrived me and my wife went through the pile it took some time. at the end we could not beleive the amount I then wrote back to the rbs in edinburgh and asked them to refund the charges for the last 6 years they wrote back saying they would investigate and would be intouch before march 07 .On 1 febuary i received a letter saying in short that they did not agree with my complaint saying that their charges are fair and transparent.however having reviewed my case and as a gesture of good will and without admission of liability or error they are prepared to offer the amount of £8776.21 .... obviously i accepted they said they will revue my existing banking facilities but as yet nothing has happend:T :T :T
