Boohoo! No Valentine's day cards through the post for me today BUT I got an offer of £250 from the Halifax. I followed all the advice given on this site and had sent the letter asking for my money back. They sent the standard letter back saying they would contact me within 8 weeks. (The letter today said they had tried to contact me by phone). Anyway, as I'd asked for approx £500, I said I wouldn't accept their offer so a very nice lady (who's name I'd best not give out) said they would give me back all my charges. Total is £468 (which IS all my charges - I'd missed a couple of reversed ones) I am very happy with this. BUT I MUST SAY... I would not have been able to even start it without the help of this site. Thanks so much :T Martin, Rex Mundi, Edinburghlass:T for all the advice. Although I've only asked a couple of questions reading through the posts is a must as you learn SO much.
To sum up: Claimed £500 from HALIFAX.
Offered £468 from HALIFAX.
Rolling Total £369,925.46 - keep it going!0 -

Hi all,
Any advise greatly appreciated (as always).
We have raised a claim against natwest for £2005 plus £580 interest, plus approx £250 in court fees. setting the total amount at over the £2800 mark.
We have filled out the AQ form (Approx 2 weeks ago) as Natwest Submitted a "defence", so we are now on the final straight.
Yesterday we received a letter from Natwest stating that they were still right, however they will settle out of court at £2005. So that's about £800 light. Also they say that if we don't accept, they will need to re-asses if they can continue to provide us with the service, which lets be honest they might still do at a later date anyway.
Ok, I know that the final decision is down to us, but £800 is still a lot of money to us. I've read that we are really only entitled to the interest if we go to court, so what will happen if we choose NOT to accept?
Any advice. or opinions would be helpful.
Thanks

Hi all,
I have today received a letter from the Abbey... I have claimed £2916.50 however the letter is stating that they have carried out a full investigation into the matter and although the charges were correct they, as a good will gesture they will credit my account with £180. I only received the letter this morning even though dated the 9th feb and they have already credited my account with the £180.
They also stated in the letter the standard blarb that when opening the account i was provided with their terms and conditions and was gven regular updates on their charges etc and that they are satisfied that the charges do not contravene unfair terms in consumer contracts regulations 1999 and that they also comply with the office of fair trading in dealing fairly and openly with their customers.
Where does this leave me know, i want to continue to the last stage which would be the courts having gone through all the other letters and processes however with them refunding me the £180 where do i stand with that??
Many thanks

Please can you help me?
I am thinking about reclaiming bank charges but I am unsure what to claim for. Some of my charges are for about £35 which is clearly unreasonable but many are for £4 or £5. Although these make a big difference over time, approximatly £1000. Should I claim for these too?0 -
does any one have the template letter link for an LBA?0

If you are putting in a claim it doesn't matter what the amounts are. Read Martin's article and follow the step by step guide.

You need to write back and say you will be accepting the £180 in partial payment but will now be proceeding to court for the rest. They may come back to you with a better offer so don't be too quick to start your claim through MoneyClaim.0 -

If you don't accept the offer you then do have to continue with the courts.0
