Yes I know that is the only option, but the question is, am I entitled to the interest or is the offer fair. £800 is more than a lot of peoples whole claim. I am only days away from getting a court date where in theory the bank will have to pay the full amount.
Will the courts frown upon the fact that I have refused this offer? Lets not forget that I have already paid the court fee's so what have I got to lose?0 -
Bank: Halifax Credit Card
Amount Claimed: £487
Amount Received £488!
Got to LBA stage, received 50% offer, phoned up, said "No Deal". Immediatley offered 100% - plus an extra pound for good luck. I will give this to children in need, and let them know in my acceptance letter.
Thanks to everyone.

Missed the bit about already heading for a court date. The bank won't offer the interest at that stage but as you are so far along you really do have nothing to lose if you refuse the offer at this stage, and everything to gain
BUT... its your decision, not mine!0 -
Bank: HBOS
Amount claimed: £5366.38 incl interest and court costs
Amount received: £5366.38
Most days since starting this action i have looked at the success stories and thought i would be the odd one that met the banks in the courtroom. Wrong! Two days before their 28 days (they acknowledged MCOL action) the money is in my account. No letter, no call (yet).
I need to add my name to the list of thanks for Edinburghlass and Rex Mundi - you have no idea how much your advice and support has meant to me. THANK YOU.
Still waiting to hear if the £812.07 on my closed account with HBOS will payout...

Did you already send a cheque for £10 with your letter? If not they are entitled to charge for this information and you should send the cheque with the letter linked to below "Ask for charge details"

Claim for £495.00
Awarded £495.00
Sent letter 10th January using template on this site... had one letter through within 2 days acknowledging receipt of my letter and then next letter came through on 25th January offering all of the money back. Money was credited back to account on 5th Feb... Job done..
Now just got to write all my friends letters for them as they all want their charges back.. seems no one can escape their evil clutches!!
Looked at account again this month and can see that on 23rd they're going to charge again (!) have they not learned their lesson...?!
Anyway as advised on here, have new bank account with new bank set up and ready to go. all money transferred and direct debits changed... Will close the account with HSBC today.. they seem to be one of the worst... Good Luck to you all..... You will win eventually... HSBC said " we are mindful of the management time and irrecoverable legal costs it may incur in relation to such a claim, for commercial reasons alone, without any admission of liability whatsoever, we are prepared to make a payment of.......in full and final settlement....":T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

We claimed for £4130.46 worth of bank charges, we included everything even down to the smallest bit of debt interest.
The first reply from the bank was not a list of charges as asked for but over 5 years worth of bank statements which we had to sift through, hence them making us do all the work!
Sent claim letter in, got reply within a few days stating there would be a full investigation into our account. The reply came last week stating that they would not pay £4130.46 but offered £3345, fair enough we thought. The letter went on to state that if we accepted the offer please sign and return offer below and we could not believe our eyes when we read I/We accept the amount of £4130.46 in full and final settlement............What!!! yipee!
The amount has not credited our account yet but hope that the banks hands are tied with the statement made and we receive the full amount due to a typing error!!!!
Thanks Martin

Hello all,
HELP!
I have submitted my online claim, after following the procedures, for £3300 from HSBC, this was done on the 5th of Feb.
I have received a letter today from them saying that 'if my claim for a refund proceeded to court, we believe we would successfully resist any legal challenge in relation to these fees'.
They then go on to make me an offer of £2776.00.
I have already made the court claim, they have 28 days according to Moneyclaim to reply.
I am tempted just to hang on, after all it is £600 and I have come this far, but the fact that they say they could successfully defend concerns me.
Has anybody had this happen to them and what was the outcome?
Anybody in the know care to suggest my course of action?
Cheers0
