Help please.
In the LBA template letter, a deadline of 7 days is given for a reply. The CAG gives a deadline of 14 days in their letter. Why the difference?
ThanksI say what I like, I like what I say!0 -

If I have already closed an account can I reclaim the charges? I still have the statements and the charges relate to a returned direct debit and unauthorised overdraft fees relating to the initial charge! (b*stards!)
The unfairness of the fees was the reason I closed the account in the first place. Nationwide FYI (b*stards!)0 -
Hi there,
hopefully this is in the right place, apolgies if its not.
my basic question is....
2 years ago i got in debt via credit cards, at first i was paying them off nicely. but then i went over and it snowballed. usual story!
I spoke to churchwood who have helped me have a fixed sum paid to both credit card companies 1 being alliance and liecester, the other Capital One.
i pay £150 a month which is ideal as currently im job hunting so i can still pay that and get by in a month.
Obviously i would like to claim back the arrears the bank have charged me.
But....If im using churchwoods services to pay off my debt, will that jeopordise my pursuit?
they spoke to alliance and leicester saying im gonna pay x amount each month to clear my debt, they agreed. my arrears are still there though, im not getting charged any more as a result of churchwood.
what posistion does this leave me in?
any help would be greatly appreciated, i read other posts but couldn't find anyone who was kind of in the same posistion.
Cheers!

Bank: Nawest
Amount Reclaimed 660 including interest
Amount they paid 492 excluding interest
Hi everyone
I reclaimed my brother's bank charges for him. I saw the telvision programme about reclaiming bank charges thought i would give it a go for my brother. My brother is a bit relaxed when it comes to money and most of his bank charges were the result of going over by a couple of pence. I like many others thought that 30.00 in charges for doing this were a bit harsh. I applied for 6 years of his statements and calculated the charges. We were quite suprised at how much they come to. I sent the sample letter along with a list of the charges including interest. 14 days passed I was getting ready to send the second letter. My Brother received a letter saying the usual "we believe our charges are fair" and a offer of 492.00 in full and final agreement. We were quite suprised that they made an offer so quickly. My brother didn't believe I would get anywhere with the bank and was quite happy with the offer they made so he accepted. The money was in his account 2 days after and they haven't closed his account yet.
I'am now helping a friend in reclaiming his bank charges with the clyesdale i will keep you informed.
Good luck to everyone who is reclaiming there bank charges dont give up you will suceed no matter how little or large your charges are.

Found part of answer to own question posted 15/1/07 r/e costs involved at court.
HSBC have defended my claim and now I've been referred to local court. Filled in court allocation form and decided to take risk. (I'm claiming £3054) However, I've spoken to the court and they warned that the bank can claim 'reasonable' costs, such as:
upto £50 each day for each person present (expert witnesses)
reasonable overnight costs if they have to stay
I was also told, that in my local court - no bank has actually let it get into court so I'm optimistic it wont come to this.
Can anyone answer these questions please?
1. Has anyone actually got into court? What happened, can't find anything on success thread ..
2. My bank's defence is that the charges are not 'penalty' charges, they are for providing a 'service' (I'm not talking about standard 'service' charges that you agree too!!!) Does anyone know anything about this?
3. Students Loans Company - my friend has loads of charges, can she claim for these?
Thanks for all the information on this site/thread - it's helped enormously so far ...0 -
