Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Bank:HSBC
Amount Reclaimed:£268
Amount They Paid: £250
The Story: Followed Martins advice to the letter. Never had to ring or pester anyone. Sent the refund request letter on 1st Jan 2007 and today 17th Jan I got the money from them. Even though I have the letter in my hand I still can not believe it. I'm not usually one to win in any situation let alone with such a huge corporate giant.
In HSBC offer letter they state " If your claim for a refund proceeded to court, we would successfully resist any legal challenge in relation to these fees...HSBC is, however, mindful of management time and irrecoverable legal costs that it may incur in relation to such a claim. For those commercial reasons alone and without any admission of liability whatsoever, HSBC is prepared to make a payment to you.:rotfl:
The Bank NAT WEST
Amount Reclaimed £1,286

The Story
Sent refund request letter 1st Jan 2007. Awaiting reply.
Had to bully them with 2 reminders that I was not satisfied with the length of time it was taking them to reply to my requests. But have just today 12th February 2007 received an offer of £975, which I have accepted. Feel Fab. Gonna buy myself a new top !!!0 -

Your mortgage will be a different agreement and should be okay.0 -

My mum is currently waiting to hear from the bank after submitting a claim through the courts as advised as she was only offered £490.00 for the £1000.00 of charges she was due.
However as this is happening she has retired for medical reasons in work and has been charged hundreds of pounds of charges again whilst she's not being paid. What does she do about reclaiming these charges. Does she have to start the process all over again. This really just show how greedy these banks are. They have thousands of claims against them yet they just won't stop.
Thanks for all your help!
P.S. The bank is Barclays!
Has all the paperwork been completed for the court? If not she should be able to add on the latest charges to the claim.0 -
She has already issued! therefore she is just waiting the 14 days!
Will she have to issue again once this money comes in? thanks0 -
Yes, and I'd suggest she gets a new bank account in place soon.0

Bank Lloyds TSB
Amount claimed £1089.00
Amount paid by bank £1089.00
I sent the normal letters & received a reply saying that they would not enter into any more correspondence. I sent that letter to the Financial Ombudsman, as the bank were not prepared to offer any payment or discuss it any further. The ombudsman took over & 6 weeks later we have received a letter stating that Lloyds will pay out in full although they admit no liability. We had got to the stage where we would have had to take them to court. Once you have received a letter from the bank stating that they will not discuss it further you can hand the dispute over to the ombudsman & they will deal with it on your behalf. It has been very successful!!0 -
Hi Guys,
Just like to carry out a quick straw poll if you don't mind.
I made a claim to Halifax for £737 + interest (£281.57) grand total of £1018.57.
Today recieved a first offer of £532, following my initial letter, approx £200 shy of the actual claim amount. As its so close to the claim amount (I thought the interest was always a gamble) I'm tempted to deal, what would you guys do?!?
Deal, or no Deal?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Hello - hope I am posting this in the correct place. I have just been online to check on my account and have found that I am over my overdraft limit and have had a total of £90 (3x£30) charged by the bank:mad: I am really annoyed as the first instance took place on the 4th of this month and they haven't sent me any letters or any kind of communication to let me know! Can they do that?! The other charges have therefore occurred from direct debits for bills etc. As my statement isn't due until the end of the month it's a good thing I checked now! After this happening I am getting my paperwork together to try and reclaim all the charges over the last 6 years but am worried as I currently live in a £1000 overdraft. Any advice?0
