Yes you can claim on a closed account, best to check what power you have as an executor regarding a closed account.0

Just to clarify another point though......if it says 'overdraft fee or excess overdraft fee' I claim for it as ONE charge event?
Or do I list an excess and a normal overdraft charge as two seperate items if on the same date or can I lump them together under the same date?
(sorry my brain locks down when I get money stressed!!!)
If they have made the charges separate, list them separately.0 -
I am on day 4 of a seven day extension to the 14 day letter. I have requested an estimated £10k
of charges from a high street bank, i have just found out that the Small claims court is only up to £5000, any advice as to where i take it from here?
i should probably have requested my charges to be listed by the bank under the DPA request but hindsight is a wonderful thing.0 -
I dont know if i'm doing this right - pease bare with me
I reclaimed bank charges from Woolwich for 449 plus interest to the total of 589, after the 2nd letter they have offered 210, i wrote back said as a gesture of goodwill on my part and without prejedice and no liability on their part i would accept 400, they wrote back again and said basically 210 or nothing what do i do now?0 -

Bank: Lloyds
amount charged: £60
reclaimed: £60
Thanks to your help the bank didn't even actually get the chance to take the money out of my account! They wrote saying they were going to take £60 due to unauthorised borrowing (over the limit for two days just before Christmas!), I wrote to them on Friday saying their charges were punitive and if they took it they would be unlawfully removing money from my account and I would take further action. The bank phoned this morning(Monday!!) saying they would not charge us as a 'gesture of goodwill' and it was discretionary so would only do it this one time. Is this turnaround time a record I wonder?:rotfl:0 -
i sent mine to my local branch and got a quick reply saying that they were looking into it. About a week later I had a letter offering me almost the full amount back0

However if your claim is an estimate by you, you'll need to list each and every charge you are claiming when it comes to putting in a court claim.
Please read Martin's article.
