BOH wrote:I sent my 1st letter requesting £1972 be refunded to HSBC Canada Square 6/12/2006.
On 3/1/2007 I sent them another letter stating that I would commence court proceedings in 7 days if I had not received a full response.
On 7/1/2007 I received a letter from HSBC in Leeds dated 5/1/2007 stating that I will be contacted agin by 7/2/2007.
My question is this, do I now go to Moneyclaim and start proceedings or do I wait until 7/2/07 for reply. My gut feeling is that any reply received by 07/2/2007 will not be satisfactory anyway.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
I am just trying to compile my claim letter to the bank after going through all the statements which they sent me and I want to make sure that I total up all the "unreasonable charges" and don't miss any out and I could really do with a bit more advice on this if possible.
The account is with Natwest & I have had an overdraft for a while which I have gone over a number of times... Natwest list this penalty charge as a "referral charge" and I have gone through my statements since my account was opened (in 2003) and these total £355 so I think these are definatley charges I can try to claim. However in addition to this I have each month "Interest" Taken off my account and then "Charges" taken off as well.
My question to other members is this & I would be grateful for advice: What is it that counts as penalty charges in my case, is it just the "referral charge" or do the other "charges" count as well. I am assuming that the "interest" part is definately reasonable and does not count as I have had an overdraft with them but am not sure about the "charges" bit.
If anyone is familiar with Natwest Accounts they might know the answer to this... thanks in advance for your help x0 -
Help - I am stuck on the Particulars of Claim Figures!!!
I thought that if my claim against BOS was for £4800 (under £5000) plus interest - total £5116 - I could claim through small claims system and pay £120 issue fee. The total amount claimed has to be shown though the the issue fee is £250.00. Can't afford this and don't want the risks of a high court claim. I have another account that i will claim £560 plus interest for and was going to do two separate claims to stay below £5000 but the Particulars of Claim won't let me.
I want to get issuing...Lou0 -

You can claim back charges and fee’s but for example if you have got an advantage gold account you cant claim back the £12 monthly fee that come with this type of account but you can claim all the default charges
As to the interest you can claim back interest on all the default charges you are claiming back at 8% you can work this out on the home page of this site.0 -
Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount Claimed: £740
Amount Paid: £715
Lloyds TSB basically explained to me that they wouldn't normally pay out this easily, but because it would cost them less to defend themselves in court, they would on this occassion.
Thank you Money Saving Expert....I never actually thought this would work!!
Does anyone know if and how it's possible to claim back charges from defaulted credit cards?
Thanks in advance for any help!!0 -
hi, im currently annoyed as ive been charged £30.00 whan i have a letter telling me i wouldnt be charged. anyway, ive been fighting debt for a long time and for ages it was the charges that crippled me. now adays i can generally manage month to month and have no overdrafts which is nice. i saw the info on this site and as i was ringing the bank up anyway (lloyds tsb) i thought id ask for statements from the last 6 years. i got them for my bank account but was transferred to get them for a credit card i no longer have. then i was told it would cost me £10.00 a statement resulting to a staggering £432. is this right? thanks0

Go to this link and print the letter off and enclose a cheque for £10 and they will supply you with a list of your charges. The bank only has a maximum 40 days to respond. If you don’t get a reply, follow up with a phone call and then report it to the Information Commissioner for a breach.

Please make the cheque for £10 payable to the bank/building society or credit card that you are claiming from. If you don't have a cheque book, you can send a postal order instead. and post it to this address:
