Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Hi there
I am a complete newby to this so, I have had my statements and received my first 'your having a laugh' letter. My total charges are £ 5158! ( yes I know. 2005 was a really bad year!!But it was charges on charges
 that ate my money making it impossible to meet my bills and therefore more bounced etc etc, you know what I mean I am sure.) and the interest is £963.59.
What I would like to know is has anyone pursued a claim for more than £5000 and are there any different rules to getting paid or should I drop to £5000 + interest (yes I am gready, but after all it is MY money!)
thanks guys

If any one has any advise to the larger claims, please let me know what you think of this...
Received my statments .
sent my first letter requesting £6121.59. inc interest.
received a letter today saying as a goodwill gesture they are willing to cancel(!!)£440 of my charges including those not yet debited to my account. Hello but is someone not getting the gist of what is going on? what do I do about the charges being made on the charges on the charges etc. I have changed accounts and do not want to use them at all.
I have just posted to threaten with court letter and they now have 7 days to reply. I know I then need to apply to the court but what is the best way to do this?
thanks

Hi , i have today completed the form for these for two0 bank accounts 1 with nationwide totally over £1200 and 1 with HSBC for nearly £4000 over the last 5years.
I have sent these off to them recorded delivery this afternoon, now I'm worried taht nationwide may cloase my acocunt as they will deem me as a troublesome customer.
My mortgage is with them, as is our Joint account and i dont really want to set up an account else where.
Also i have been reading that nationwide & Hsbc are really hard to get any of the charges refunded back, just myb lucj im not with Halifax!! Has anyone had any sucess stories from Nationwide or Hsbc without having to take them to court.
Any feed back woulod be great.

Wife has just informed me of a similar letter waiting for me at home requesting a further £100. Is this the end of the road as I am really worried and penniless until end of month. Has anyone actually made it to court yet? All advice greatfully accepted ... Thanks Pedro0

Just accepted £3000 from BOS.
Not full amount claimed but offer was very prompt when I sent in a form to Ombudsman. Although Ombudsman said they could not investigate until I had had final offer from bank, they did get in touch with BOS to say they had been contacted.
I might have pushed it further with court etc if I had been in England but the £750 small claims limit in Scotland meant it could have been long and drawn out.
Still, £3k was a good result as far as I was concerned.
No idea what their stance would be on closing accounts etc since we had already shut down the account in question before launching the claim.0 -
Having successfully claimed back £360 from First Direct I am on something of a roll.
I have Enduring Power of Attorney in respect of my sister who is now unwell and unable to manage her own affairs. Prior to illness she ran her own business and still has a business account.
I believe there are numerous penalty charges on both her business and private accounts, with Natwest and Halifax respectively.
My questions are:
Are the rules for business accounts any different or can I claim in the same way as private accounts?
As EPA, if I am forced to go to court, am I allowed to represent her in the same way I would myself...i.e stand and give evidence or be 'cross examined?'
I am very willing and able to do this but would appreciate opinions or information from others - it's always better to to be able to talk from a position of authority.
Many thanks for any advice received and good luck to all who are 'fighting the good fight!'

I am pursuing reclaim charges on behalf of my son. We all bank with the Abbey and I look after his internet banking to keep his head above water. Our claim is for £1300 over 3.5 years and I am not claiming interest.
Using templates from Martin's website sent letters but with no success. I have now reached the stage of registering with small claims so I'm already in the system. Has anyone had any success with Abbey and will they accept me at court proceedings if it goes that far?
Any advice or help would be much appreciated.0 -

Thread here regarding Abbey. Assuming your son is signing any letters you have written on his behalf it will be him who has to take them to court and attend should that be necessary.0
