  • Oh god I am confused now!! Every where seems to state don't claim it but are people claiming it straight away.

Also I have just come accross a part that I remember. I remember going into the bank and kicking off and seeing the manager after being charged two £25 referral fees. I remeber getting these refunded but it isnt entirely clear when the refund was made although there is a line saying £50 credited but it says - "601515 28jul 1019 card 02"

That makes a lot of sense doesn't it. Should i ignore this and carry on anyway as it was back in 2003

Ignore that weird credit I don't think its related. However I have found a S/C Refund of £91, I take it this should go on the spreadsheet?
  • Well I've got a near enough final giure with maybe one more charge to go on. The amount is £1994.48 + £348.42 interest at 8%.

She has also been charged loads of overdraft interest but she can't claim that back as its probably interest charge due to her permanently being in and over her £500 overdraft limit
  • During a recent meeting (with an embarrased business manager) to discuss the alarming level of charges being applied to the account, I asked why suddenly they seemed to have changed their cheque and direct debit policy bouncing items that would put me 1p in the red and then charging me for the privalidge anything from £15-00 to £35-00.
He explained that my internally managed credit score had dropped below 40 and that meant all would be done to make you close your account as the managers would consider this an "undesirable" sort of individual.
This would pass down through all staff at the branch. No one would get told off for poor service to these poor customers.
As an alcoholic in recovery I have been trying to re-build my life for the last 3 yrs working as a self employed electrician. Work is going well with a full order book. What I don't need is a bank that offers no support, denies me acces to cost effective credit then charges me £1100 in penalty default charges. The only problem with my business is HSBC and I will get it back as long as I don't start drinking ! The frustration and extra work they have caused is unbelievable !
  • the hsbc are a nightmare. i've yet to come across a member of their staff who is even remotely helpfull. They remind me in many ways of that famous comedy sketch

    'computer says no....'.
  • Bank: HALIFAX
    Amount Reclaimed:£650
    Amount they paid:£500
    The story:
Requested statements end of Nov 06 and they arrived start of Dec 06 (Got them free due to an error on their part!)
Sent 1st letter and got an acknowledgment of letter received on 04 Jan 07.
Halifax phoned yesterday and offered £200 to start, with some banter I got them up to £450, but I still declined and said if you offer £500 I’d accept.
30mins later they rang back and offered the £500 which I accepted. (Saves me 2nd letter and going to small claims)
Halifax is sending out a letter for me to sign & date. Once they have received this back the money will be in my account 10 working days afterwards!

    SUCCESS!

    Thanks Martin! :j
  • Hi All,
    Re Lloyds TSB
As promised just a quick update. Received copies of charges just before Christmas, took first letter into local branch on Wednesday 9th January so now all we do is wait. Great site reading it every day.

    Just a quickie

Until now I've sent the two formal letters to the Bank of Scotland Head Office in Edinburgh who sent one letter of reply saying they would respond in 4 weeks.

7 days is up though so I'm going to do the Moneyclaim thing today and issue claim against Bank of Scotland to their England legal address in Halifax.

Doesn't seem to be any continuity now going to the Halifax address but does this fall in line with Martin's procedure anyway?

    Thanks as always...
    Lou
  • CAN ANYONE HELP- DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND OUT ABOUT THIS
I sent first letter to my mortgage company to reclaim non DD charge of £50 a time and late payment charges of £50 a time on the first letter they basicly said there charges are in line with everyone else, and would not refund anything i sent them second letter and then they said that they still stick with there first letter and that if i want to take them to court that is within my right and send them the summons but i will incure additional legal cost on top of what ever i owe them does anyone know if this is true and has anyone took a mortgage company to court any advise and they also told me to send the summons to there po box trading address not the registered address any advise on this aswell.
  • Bank: HSBC
    Amount Claimed: £1014 without interest
    Amount Settled: £900.
    The Story:
Wrote in November, no response, wrote again in December with reply saying they were investigating. Got a letter last week offering settlement of £900 "purely for commercial reasons" - YEAH RIGHT! - accepted slightly less as I have £900.00 that would have been lost forever - Thank you Martin for putting everyone on to this - I've told all my friends and work colleagues and they're all looking through their statements!

    BRILLIANT! :money:  :money:
