I rang up AOL yesterday (on the freephone number) and got my AOL Gold downgraded to Silver at £9.99 per month. As 1Mbps seems to be the best I can get, at the moment (due to my distance from the exchange), this seems like a fairly good deal.

Could you paste online chat link here? I can't find anywhere.

    Hi Marquis,

go to keyword "live help" then choose account/billing enquiry and see how you go!

Was about to come on and ask if AOL take money in advance for the month coming, or if they take it in arrears.

Seems like they take it in advance, as on my billing page, it £8.05 for this bill (Was on £29.99 and cancelled about 7/8 days ago) but it's not taken out of my bank account yet so cannot confirm if this is the actual amount taken.

Yes they take in advance, when you join you get a free month & at the end of that month they take first payment for the month ahead or in advance.

I just ordered AOL Silver 1Mbit over the phone. Over the phone you can get it for 9.99/month but if you go online you get it 14.99/month and 1st month is free and you get free wireless modem but on phone the customer support personnel asked 25 quid for the modem.
I ordered it and then realise that had I ordered through Quidco online, I would have got 45 as cashback which would have made it even cheaper than 9.99/month for 12 months

    If u compare the two:
    Over internet:

    14.99 x 11= 164.89
    Minus 45 (quidco)
    Total over 1 year =119.89

    Ove phone::
    9.99x12 months = 119.88
    Plus 25 (for modem)
    Total over 1 year= 144.88

So I am thinking that I will ring them tomorrow n cancel my order unless they give me the modem free and re-order through the net n quidco

Onlly thing is that I am not sure if Quidco would pay up 45 for the transaction.
Any experieces with AOL on Quidco would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

I just signed AOL with quidco on friday. But the transaction hasn't been tracked yet. I don't know why.

You can order on the phone and get it for £9.99, first month free and free wireless router, because thats exactly what i got :)

And if you know someone already on AOL you get £25 each as refer a friend ;) and it can be easier as you can quote there screename and the ops can check that they got that offer and will be easier getting it for yourself ;) , i have refered 2 people and they both got the 9.99 offer and free router as the phone op looked at my details :)

So total for 1 year would be £84.89 doing it that way

Many thanks Deanos. Do you think I can still ring them up and cancel my order or ask for a the free month and free router on my order.

And I read somewhere that refer a friend scheme ended on the 28th of Aug... Is that true? or it is still running.

I have sent you another pm

    Update..

Just rung up AOL and the lady refused to give me free wireless router or a free month even when i told her many times that i know people who have got it.

I think I will try again, if I fail, I might cancell the order and order through the quidco n atleast get 45 back

    Damn AOL!
I've been trying to get the £9.99 a month deal, but on 3 times I've called I've been told the £9.99 offer is not open to new customers.

The only offer I get is £14.99 a month, 12 months contract + Free router.

I already have a wireless router so thats not a problem.

Has anyone got the £9.99 Silver deal being a new customer?

    Thanks
