For those who got the AOL Silver for £9.99 per month and bought the Netgear router/modem for £25 from AOL can you please tell me:
1. How many microfilters did you get with the router/modem?
2. Did you also buy the USB adaptors WG111 to connect your PCs to the router and if so who did you buy them from and how much did they cost?
3. What did you get with the router/modem installation kit and was it easy to set up?
4. How long did it take from placing the order to getting connected?
Thanks for any info provided;) .
Regards

Just got off the phone with AOL and they refused to budge on any offer for the platinum or gold. They did say the silver at £9.99 is available to me but gold at £19.99 or platinum at £24.99. Can someone confirm that they have the gold at £14.99 and platinum at £19.99?

Hi,
Have you seen someone who has been offered £14.99 for Gold and £19.99 for platinum? I have never heard of this.

I had 3 microfilters in m'box :D

I bought a USB Wireless dongle from MyMemory B]click here[/B :D

Yes provided you have an ethernet port to connect to the router, it is fairly easy, using their easy install CD. However, do come back to the techie board and the guys there will make sure you've got the high end WPA encryption and security as the AOL software doesn't do this for you. :D

I placed my order on 27th July and had the stuff on the 9th August. :D However I did have to phone AOL and say "Oi where the !!!! is my router you useless !!!!" they said it was posted on the 4th August but the date on the postage label said 7th August :naughty:

Oh also why are you paying £25 for the router?? I'm on a 12 month contract for £9.99 a month and got the router free. I did start on the £14.99 package with free router, then just phoned and got it reduced to £9.99 :D :T Oh and £45 through Rpoints

Hope this helps - any more info needed let the crab know :D
• According to the AOL website the 'no 12 month contract' for BB switchers with a MAC code was only until August 27th. Has anybody ordered today and managed to avoid the 12 month tie-in?

From previous posts if you go straight for the £9.99 a month and ask for the router AOL offer it for £25. I could risk starting at the £14.99 price but then may not be as as good/lucky as you to get it down to £9.99 with router for free. The Netgear router DG834G sells for £60 on Amazon and the adaptors WG111 are £30 each.

Go through Rpoints/Quidco for the £14.99 deal then once you get the router, phone them up after a couple of days and say you're aware of others with £9.99 per month and that you'll leave (cooling period ends 7 days after receipt of router). ALso mention Sky broadband but push for the £9.99 deal with router and insist you know people with the same deal.

If they don't let you, just hang up then phone back. I only got it when I went throught to the Indian call centre  THough I'm sure the ireland peeps can be pushed a little :)

• I have been on AOL silver for 18months paying £17.99 per month.

I saw the add this morning for the silver package at £14.99 with free wireless router so I rang them to ask to cancel, they offered me the £14.99 and free router deal, thought it was a good offer till I came on here, should I try to cancel again before the cooling off period and try for the £9.99 deal? Should I have haggled for a month free too?

Thanks,

Sarah
