Thanks to this thread I have just finished talking to a very nice person on the live help pages at AOL. Back in June I signed up for Silver broadband, deal was £14.99 per month for 6 months rising to £17.99. I mentioned to the Live help person that Id heard that some of their Silver broadband customers were only being charged £9.99 per month for the same package as I had and could I please be put on to that deal. No problem came the reply, I will do that with immediate effect!!! 8 minutes from start to finish. Printed off a copy of the conversation and have also recieved an email from AOLUKBroadband comfirming the change. Aparently "we always want to make AOL members happy" .
Thankyou to everyone who flagged this up, if the person who first mentioned the £9.99 deal can put up their had I will gladly press their thankyou button, anway big thanks to this thread.

No, choccyface2006, I didnt mention it and I wasnt offered it. To be honest the idea of wireless broadband freaks me out a bit, not sure why, i like the idea of the cable 'connecting' me to the internet. Daft, innit!!0

I saw the add this morning for the silver package at £14.99 with free wireless router so I rang them to ask to cancel, they offered me the £14.99 and free router deal, thought it was a good offer till I came on here, should I try to cancel again before the cooling off period and try for the £9.99 deal? Should I have haggled for a month free too?
Thanks,
Sarah:T you have nothing to lose. If you aren't successful, ask coull2000 to ask for a router for ya!

I know what you mean, I had my last router set up before but my ex configured it for me, it was such a pain and I didn't have a clue how to set it up myself. I am hoping newer routers are easier though, I do love to be wireless.
Crabman - I think I will wait till I recieve my router then use the online chat with AOL to try for an even better deal, at least then its not as embarrassing if they turn me down, I too can be alot cheekier online than on the phone! :rotfl:

Was about to come on and ask if AOL take money in advance for the month coming, or if they take it in arrears.
Seems like they take it in advance, as on my billing page, it £8.05 for this bill (Was on £29.99 and cancelled about 7/8 days ago) but it's not taken out of my bank account yet so cannot confirm if this is the actual amount taken.0 -
Well I rang up Aol on the freephone this morn and spoke to Mary, Lovely person, I explained that I was thinking of leaving and she offered me Gold for £19.99 and a router, no contract to stick to but no free month, I am not bothered about that as I am not about to leave AOL any way.
So thank to all you guys I got a pretty good result and I am happy :-)0
