My boyfriend is on the 2mb Gold AOL connection and been with them forever. If he emails them and threatens to cancel, would they give him the free wireless router that comes with aol silver package even though he is on gold?

Just ring them up and speak to a person, far better than an e-mail! If it doesn't work first time, keep ringing until you get a more reasonable operator.

The rates seem to be Silver £9.99, Gold £14.99, Platinum £19.99 all with a wireless router thrown in. They can't afford to lose customers with the business up for sale.

Phone them and ask for the £9.99 deal saying you have your own equipment and say you want the 30 day contract and not 12 months. If they say no just hang up and call another operator until they agree.

Thats what I did and asked for details of it in an email, which I had to call and ask for twice until they agreed after they asked a supervisor.

  • I've been with AOL now for a few years and I'm on AOL platinum upgraded free from 2 to 8 megs. So far so good but I'm getting a bit fed with connection fails, after ringing up the help line a few I sometimes find it very difficult to understand the guy on the other end,so after hanging up and trying a few more times and eventially getting through to someone I can understand they have bee very helpful. But I'm thinking of changing to what sound a decent service of 16 meg with sky for £10.00. But how do I get my Mac address anybody help please

Don't install their software on your PC, just use the router to establish the connection and then use a browser of your choice.
