Also I have been on 1mb stable for the last 15 months at this address so I should have no problems.0

Oh and it will not be the 10th day either as it was at 576kbps for first few days and it has just been moved to 1mb and not max as far as I have been told. The 26th is just the date bt gave as to when the upgrade to 1mb would have deffo been done.0

Phone them back and keep phoning till you get a nice Indian guy to change it to £9.99 for you. Just say you know others who are getting it for £9.99 with wifi router too. :cool:0 -
I spoke to a nice Irish girl last Friday and got downgraded to Silver for £9.99 a month with no new contract. The girl told me that I would automatically receive a new 12 month contract but I told her I didn't want one so after consulting her supervisor it was amended so that I didn't have one.
I had received a free wireless router about 6 weeks ago when I requested a migration code so all in all i'm a happy bunny with AOL at the moment.

Right is there anyone using the netgear dg834gt wireless router with aol silver?
Further to my earlier problems it seems the line is fine as it connects via a usb modem no problems.
My netgear router connected fine from last thursday when i migrated until this morning when they increased my line speed to 1mb from half meg after they put me on wrong speed.
All the logon details and other settings are fine and worked before the regrade but not it will not connect.
I have tested the router on my brothers connection with pipex and it is working spot on so router is fine but it will not connect with aol. I get lcp is down and chap authentication failed which I know is user and password problems. It also connects no problem with the bt test login.
The settings are fine as tech support confirmed them and that the line is fine.
I am wondering if my logon name is not working for some reason?

If it connects with a USB modem it must be something wrong with the router or the network connections on your PC, do you have a firewall on the PC blocking the port ?0

Firewall turned off for now and router set up with all correct settings and was connecting for last 4 days no problem but it all stopped working when they upgraded my line to 1meg.
I have just returned from my brothers where I have had the router online with his pipex connection so router is fine.
Just seems strange it worked for 4 days then nothing?0 -
I think AOL has some funny settings , i have a DG846G here i got from AOL, havent used it as im using a USB one but here are the setting for AOL from the instructions...
Connection Protocol: PPPoE
ATM Encapsulation typr: LLC
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
MTU Setting should be 1450 for AOL, not sure if this router automatically adjusts this if not go to https://www.broadbandreports.com/drtcp and download the small program to change it.0 -

Those settings all conflict with what aol tech tells me as it should be pppoa, vc based, 0, 380
