I'm sure the maximum MTU setting should be 1400 for AOL.
If you're still having connection problems, you need to get back on to the support line, when ever i've had problems in the past, they've always got me sorted out - you may get put through to level 2 support but i'm sure they'll sort you out in the end.

I got throygh to level 2 twice yesterday. Even though my router is not officially supported the checked all settings and they are all correct. My usb modem connects with same screen name and password etc.
It worked with the same router and settings until a speed upgrade but now it will not work with the router but will with usb modem so the line is fine.
I tested my router on my brothers pipex broadband and it works fine. Its strange it works on usb but not router but did before speed increase?
So router is fine and line is fine, settings are all correct but it will not connect. The line syncs and shows at 1024 connection.
One more call to aol this morning and if no joy I will migrate again as they have no answers and will not help because of unsupported router. Proper isp's support any equipment that work so it must be aol problems. My router worked on bt, plusnet and pipex without problems and it works on my neighbors tiscali too.
Thanks for all the advice though!

Can someone please confirm this for me cos I asked in the artist formerly known as Dixons and they gave me an answer I suspect is wrong (why shouldn't they?!)
If I sign up to aol BB and get their wireless router, can i use the aol connection without putting their rubbishy software on my nice shiny mac?

Thanks but aol tech sent me that too and all details are present and correct.
It has totally stumped me as it is set up correct, router works perfect and so does my line. It worked until they upgraded me to the 1meg it should have been from start. Very baffling. Its as if they are blocking router use on my line or blocking my user name for router use.

Yes definitely. Just configure the router to establish the connection and then use any browser of your choice. The AOL nannyware is not needed on your machine.

Simon.
Sorry can't really help much but did you read this bit:
"We recommend that you create a new Screen Name which your router can use to connect to AOL - because if you use an existing Screen Name, your router will lose its connection to AOL if you sign on from another location using that same Screen Name." and the other text in red.
As you are failing to authenticate, it must be related to this.
