Just phoned - got £9.99, no mention of the offer ending yesterday.

My Mom got the same, even though her 12 months isn't up till October!

Hmmm just phoned to double check details i was given yesterday and was told £9.99 is for existing customers only new customers are £14.99, i mentioned about the router for £25 which was offered yesterday and there was nothing on the system.

I would appreciate if someone else could ring and ask.

    Thanks
  • I rang AOL and was told that I could get the Silver package at £9.99 with one month free. No wireless router on this deal. Its unlimited downloads and whatever the line will hold (Im restricted to about 600 kBps unfortunately)

They now have a Friends referral bonus, pays both £25 on new or upgrades. Someone I know already on AOL is very pleased at the suggestion as it will pay for his internet for a while.

I was told that the Friends scheme is valid until end of August but that £9.99 is planned to last until October this year.

Does anyone have comments about AOL in the Catford region?

Well ive just got off the phone, ive been offered first month free, £9.99 pm 1mb after the free month and a free wireless router and 1 month rolling contract, she did say it was £25 for the router but it came up as free if migrating, i did stress it many times if it was a 1 month contract and she confirmed :)

When i rang this time i just said ive been offered 1mb for £9.99 when i rang the other day and no bull about it not being on offer this time :)

The big thing people/me hate about AOL is that you need to have that god damn awful browser of there's. BT yahoo is terrible for that too. Personally all i want from a internet connection is just an internet connection no other sh*t added on

Not strictly true - there is a thread somewhere on this board about how to set up connection without using AOL software.

Also I have the great misfortune to be on dial-up at present.

Although you do need the AOL software (I think), you do not actually have to open it up to get internet connection. Right click on AOL icon in taskbar, select option "start AOL Dialer" and sign on using this option. You can use IE, Mozilla etc - have just discovered this and wondered what it was. So for the unfortunate ones who are stuck with dial-up, that might be the easiest solution.
As for me, counting down the days until I get BB back! Grrrrr.

You dont need the software just set up a newtwork connecction with your aol user id and password, which needs to be 7 characters or less and it works without installing the software.
    Nice to save.

Firstly, thanks to those that have already posted here and giving me food for thought.

I'm currently behind the times and still on AOL dial-up (15.99pm -191.88pa), so have read this thread with interest. Rang them and they offered me Silver BB at 14.99pm with free router intially, therefore 179.99pa. After a little pressure, they offered Silver at 9.99pm with a £25 one off charge for the router, therefore 144.88pa.

Has anyone managed to get Silver at 9.99pm + a FREE router or am I asking for too much. I'll be happy to pay the £25 as i think 144.88pa is good value and a generous saving of £47 to what I currently pay, but it doesn't hurt to try does it ?
