Our personal favourite for children when we're being silly on camp - take hot dogs (veggie ones do fine) and uncooked spaghetti. Cut hot dogs in half or thirds - push the spaghetti sticks through the hot dog bits - as many as you like until it looks a bit like sputnik or a weird version of kerplunk. Boil until spaghetti is cooked - you end up with cooked spaghetti with bits of hotdog 'impossibly' threaded through. Mini-meat balls, carrot/cucumber/celery sticks with a yoghurty savoury dip and/or ketchup, potato wedges. A lot of traditional savoury baking relies on hard fats, white flour and cheese so if you want to limit those it can be quite difficult. If you're not - savoury scones with bits of cooked bacon and grated cheese, mini-quiches.

how about chinese spring rolls? you need some filo pastry, some bean sprouts, shredded meat (pork, chicken, duck or beef - anything really!) shred some spring onions and I like to add some fried mushrooms and onions, and you are good to go! just cut the filo pastry into strips and put the mixed filling (you can add a bit of flavour to it with soy sauce or a sprinkle of toasted sesame oil) into the bottom of it and make a parcel of it - then deep fry it. delish - you can make them as small or large as you want!

Sorry if this has already been mentioned. Thin slices of parsnips (do them with vegetable peeler) deep fried until crispy.

I like to make cheesy muffins. I make them in the sweet sized silicone cases, so they are really nice as a snack. They are also really nice with soup!

I like smoked mackerel pate on chunky bread. it is really quick and easy.
take pack of basics smoked mackerel mix with 200gm basic cream cheese , squeeze of lemon , and black pepper a hand blender. dead simple and really tasty
