Hi, I buy own brand Sainsburys Cream Crackers, (not basics) with cheese.
Not quite sure how healthy but dry roasted peanuts are wonderfull
Pop corn?0 -
Oatcakes or rice cakes are nice with a spread of butter (or marg) and marmite for a savoury snack. Otherwise my kids have always enjoyed a piece of grilled cheese on toast when they came back from school (it seems such a loooong time ago now!).Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Soup, HM bread, especially flavoured types like cheese, hard boiled eggs, sun dried tomato or olive bread, hummus, oatcakes, cheese in portions, peanut butter, cereal and milk, sunflower seed Ryvita (my kids love these), rice cakes, bread sticks, small snack pots of leftovers in fridge that just need reheated. I know though that the mere act of wielding a bread knife and spreading somthing on a slice of bread is often a step too much effort for hungry kids and lazy OHs so I've also been known to leave sandwiches in the fridge if I know a snack will be needed.
The utterly 100% reliable way to stop them snacking on crisps, biscuits and cake etc btw is not to have them in the house on any sort of regular basis and if you do buy these, keep them well out of sight and reach.Val.0 -

Though it is in no way low-fat since it is deep fried, but I always feel better buying it for the kids rather than crisps knowing that its full of protein.
I love Bombay Mix - I eat it with sandwiches sometimes instead of crisps on the side, and would have it instead of 3 meals a day if I could
Savoury snacks in this house would be:
Carrots, nuts, crackers, celery, bread + butter - just remembered there is always popcorn in the cupboard too but I usually forget about it lolLove and compassion to all x0 -
I have bread sticks to munch, or cream crackers, microwave popcorn or fruit.
A bowl of Weetabix is always good to get rid of the munchies too.I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -
bread sticks - then you can dip them in things, or as my kids do - use them as horns and run around the place!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I love baking but always make sweet stuff and sometimes I really crave savour snacks so end up with crisps or cheese & crackers. Does have anyone have ideas for savoury snacks I can make instead of sweet?0

Last summer for a picnic I made some ham, mint and pea pasties- they were delicious even if I do sat so myself and went down a treat!
