Hummous is a favourite of mine. I believe that you can also make similar 'pastes' from other dried beans and pulses, although I have no idea what they are like.I have no signature.0

Cheesejacks? (Like flapjacks but savoury) or could he not fill up a bit more at evening mealtime?2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

I suppose you could stretch the meat out into fritters, or make it into sandwiches.
What about toast with a savoury spread like marmite or bovril?
Will he eat crisps? What about crisps and a h/m dip made with something like mayo and pesto, or even a spoonful each of mayo, tomato ketchup, chutney and half a tub of cottage cheese.
Savoury h/m flavoured bread, with eg. sundried tomatoes and herbs, served with real butter.
If you don't have the tins in the cupboard, he can't eat them and you can point him towards other snacks. I assume weight isn't a problem, otherwise you really want to get him onto healthier snacks.
Popcorn can be savoury with salt and other spices like paprika, and is fairly healthy.
Hummus as mentioned above is quite healthy, and served with crackers or high fibre crispbreads could be good.

Just made these - the spice mix is lovely, not convinced by roasted chickpeas though!"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

When the kids get in from school or hubby gets late night munchies they always grab biscuits, a slice of cake, crisp, flapjacks etc. I want to have at hand some "real" food snacks for them instead of sweet/fatty things. I have thought of Pitta and dips but can anyone suggest others? It needs to be things that I can make before hand a keeps for a few days so its ready to eat straight away. Anything that needs "preparing" or reheating first they won't be bothered to do *sigh*....0

Our snacks are things such as:
Cottage Cheese on crackers, toast or pitta bread
Cheese and crackers

Soup
Tacos & Cheese/Jalepenos (sp)
Houmous with veggies or toasted pitta
Fruit & Cheese
What about Fritata(sp)?....leftovers etc.

Bombay mix - if your kids/hubby like something with a bit of spice, bombay mix is nutritious since it is made from gram flour which is literally ground up pulses. Though it is in no way low-fat since it is deep fried, but I always feel better buying it for the kids rather than crisps knowing that its full of protein.
Sliced apples with peanut butter. Sounds awful - but try it yourself. Slice apples and spread with a teaspoon of peanut butter. The two go very well together and again peanut butter is full of protein. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Hi dandycandy,
One of my favourites at the moment is seeds..pumpkin, susnflower, etc (dry roasted or just as they are). We also have cheese and crackers, pate on toast or savoury biscuits, cheese on toast, hm dips and raw veg.
