Dear All
I chased CNM as I had not got acknowledgement of my first cashback claim (second contract) and have just rec'd an email as follows:
'due to the volume of claims we are dealing with it can take around 45 working days for a claim to be fully processed'
I have responded that my t&c's when I took out the contract stated
"We will email you when your redemption paperwork is loaded onto our system and when it is processed for payment. It takes up to 14 working days from receipt to load and 28 working days from receipt to process.
Cheque Payments
We will settle valid claims by cheque within 28 working days of receipt, directly to your home address using the account details supplied with your original order."
Given the problems my father is having due to his alleged breach of their t&c's I don't see why I should get paid late.

Yikes. I bought a new phone under 12 month contract yesterday via coolnewmobile (via Quidco) after reading an article on Motley Fool. I now feel like a bit of a numpty as I didn't check MSE first for any feedback. Is there a cooling off period - can I cancel now or is it already too late? I have only skimmed this thread but it's quite obvious from a quick glance that there are a catalogue of problems associated with this company + claiming cashback. Help! :eek:Quidco ~ £3,718 | Greasypalm ~ £354 | Freefivers ~ £45 | Pigsback ~ £260 shopping vouchers + 15 CDs
Total cashback / freebies / money-saving: 2006 ~ £3,961 | 2007 ~ 3,610 | 2008 ~ £4,159 | 2009 ~ £1,449

J Slater is the person who signs all the cheques! I would ask everyone to take note of this full postal address in case you want to deliver any paperwork to them by hand.

There will be the standard 7-day cooling off period required under the Distance Selling Regulations, although if your mobile contract starts before you cancel it I think you may be charged for the time it was running, and you may be charged return postage on the phone (because it was as described).Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Joanne Slater is a Director, so is Simon Slater. The address for the job ad is probably an office address and may not be associated directly with the company. In fact a quick Google Search shows that 18 Market Place is probably an accommodation address or a very small serviced office, it is used by the British Canoe Association and several other businesses and clubs, so anyone who goes there with a phone bill and claim form will probably be greeted with no more than a puzzled look.
However, the PO Box address where the cashback claims go to is at Clarke Road Nottingham, and it looks like an industrial unit. Check this out with the Royal Mail's address finder, just put in postcode NG13 8XT. You can see it in Google maps, if you zoom in using satellite or hybrid view you will see a building with lots of red vans. It could be a Royal Mail depot....
It is a Royal Mail Depot...
NOTTINGHAM SOUTH DELIVERY OFFICE
11 CLARKE ROAD
NOTTINGHAM NG2 3EE
Therefore, it is extremely probable that they are collecting the mail from the RM depot. Remember the T&Cs say your claim must be delivered to the PO Box address. If anyone does want to hand the claim in, I would say get agreement in writing first, and an address. However, I think such a request will be met with a refusal.
I believe Royal mail will provide a fixed address from a PO Box. I will ring them tomorrow and ask. Watch this space...0 -

so on that basis do people think it would be wise to cancel now or have some had success in getting their cashback? The deal does seem too good to be true....:rolleyes:Quidco ~ £3,718 | Greasypalm ~ £354 | Freefivers ~ £45 | Pigsback ~ £260 shopping vouchers + 15 CDs

Wow! What an amazing co-incidence, when the company is so huge that it has a "mail sorting office", a "claims processing centre" and some sort of "cheque writing department" - and they are so far apart that it takes weeks for items to travel between them.
:rotfl:LOL! They are probably just a marketing company that manage a sales office somewhere. Has anyone noticed the accents on the sales staff? That is always a give away.
The shipping was done by Dextra Solutions in Crewe, so the directors probably don't get anywhere near any of the mobile phone they sell. Looking at Dextra's customer feedback (they supply the big boys such as Tesco, Orange, Carphone Warehouse, O2), it is all positive. I expect Dextra help out a lot, maybe even with website construction and marketing.
But after a sale there is normally little work for a marketing company. However, the majority of the post sales work for these guys results from their juicy promises for cashback, and now the work arrives daily by the sackful at their PO Box. Each letter opened just drains money out of their company's bank account. The more they sell, the more claims they get, but they don't have to pay out until 3 months down the road. And they have been soooo successful with their great offers! But now it's payback time...
It's just like those Nationwide adverts isn't it? They lure you in with a big fat juicy worm, then they put you in the holding pen, being mainly concerned with getting new customers. Maybe this whole sector of industry should be heavily regulated, I mean in relation to cashback deals. The phone companies don't help - they pay out big up front commission to the sales companies, makes it so tempting for them. I can see this bubble bursting soon.0 -
Just like some other industries that were "regulated" for the better? No thanks. I'm quite happy with all the free contracts I've had and quite prepared to take my chances. Once the great finger of the state gets too involved it is often for the worse. A fool and his money are easily parted; people won't be satisfied until they do drive this place out of business leaving many people far worse off than they are now. There are courts and all the consumer protection in the world won't be as effective for those people now. This bandwagon is becoming overblown and serious danger of being counter-productive.0
