TalkTalk Broadband. Yes or No?

I've been going through some of the threads and the options for broadband are huge. I've got my landline with Talk Talk but is is advised to take out their broadband service too? I'm want the 2 meg service but is it any good? Answers please. Yes or No. And if no, whats the better alternative to Talk Talk broadband and how much?

Cheers.

I'd advise you avoid TalkTalk for broadband.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    Hi
Ive been on talktalk broadband for almost 2 years and i have no complaints at all. Myself and my two sons can be on all day and night and we are never cut off and there is to my knowledge no download limit. At the price that you get 2mb broadband i think its great.

    No download limit!!! LOL

That's why so many people have contacted trading standards and the ASA!

TalkTalk traffic shape, so all but general viewing webpages crawl.

If you download too much they they throw you off, how much is too much depends on how many people are downloading too much. Many people have been thrown of just for downloading 30GB.

Most people are trying all they can to get thrown off TalkTalk.

TalkTalk used to be good for their phone service, but have never been good for their broadband, it is a poor service which they lie in their adverts as been unlimited downloads when it is far from it.

The 2.5 months I was with them shortly after they launched was nothing but problems, everything was slow, they restricted anything that wasn't web pages, and even they were slow, kept getting disconnected up to 20 times an hour, yet before when on Pipex and then when Iwent back to Pipex I could stay connected until I switched my router off, that could be months and months.

Yes, there may well be some satisfied customers, but they are very few, and then they are the ones who only use the internet for browsing webpages, email, and very few small downloads.

End of December 2004 I joined, beginning of March 2005 I escaped, all the same problems I was getting then are still happening now with most customers.

Don't worry, soon he will notice a slowdown in speed, and then a letter in the post giving him 21 days to find another broadband supplier before they disconnect his service.

You say films, if this is several a week then it is only a matter of time before the letter will come.

They are only cheap if you have your phone with them. If you ever consider in the future changing your phone package ( eg for free E+W calls and ability to use 1899), the cost becomes extortionate and then try leaving!

OK,so they may not be the best but who are the alternatives to Talk Talk for a 2 meg service at a tidy price?

Never had a letter but service has slowed considerably - now slower on 1MBps TalkTalk than 512KBps was with Wanadoo!

Just requested MAC today to move away from TalkTalk to Be Broadband - 24MBps. Woohoo :D
