Free right! Don't believe the hype.
£9.99 calls package and you have to change to their line rental.
I guess its easy to join but difficult to move away from, and their line rental does not include CLI.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
At least after all the trouble they have received from trading standards and the ASA regarding their so called unlimited broadband, it looks like on this they may have learnt their lesson.
The free broadband has a a 40GB limit, though as said above you must take their inclusive calls package and their line rental, so this means you have to pay on top for caller display, plus the higher cost to call other numbers, and not being able to use 1899 or 18185.
They have always been such a poor service when people were paying for them, I managed to get myself thrown off on purpose because they we so bad, and I had only downloaded a fraction over 20GB in one month, others are getting thrown off for the same amount and others around 30GB, you can image how bad they are going to be with a free service. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Its an 18 month contract you are tieing yourself into.
Their is a £30 connection charge.
Its not 8 mb .Its up to 8mb.
Its not unlimited (Up to 40gb download a month)
Its only available to 70% of UK.(If your not in the coverage area it costs you £30.99 a month.)
Security protection is only free for first 90 days then its another £1.75p a month.
If you use Caller Display add £1.75 a month to the package making it £22.74 a month.
You cant use the likes of 1899/18866/18185 access codes with it.
Calls to 0845 numbers are 4.5p a minute peak.PF.0 -
I use TalkTalk for phones and have not had any problems - they seem very cheap. However, I'm a light user - the Talk3 package that you have to take to get the free broadband still looks like a good deal though - £9.99 for unlimited local and national calls plus "up to 8MB" (in my case would probably be around 3Mb) with a 40MB cap (I once got up to about 9Gb in a month and was well impressed!).
£9.99 per month just for those terms for the broadband is good, but adding the phone in as well with free calls to the UK is excellent.
However .... it's all academic if the broadband service is rubbish.
I'll be waiting to see if we get less reports of bad service and more of good before I even think of signing up.0 -

Ouch! That's definately me out then - I prefer a "get out quick" option!0 -
Their phone service was great when I was with them, this was when they weren't trying to get you to have their line rental, but their broadband is absolutely terrible and should really be avoided. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... BexTech wrote:You will find most people willWhen you are streaming radio or TV, this can use up a fair amount. I no longer have a phone line, so all my calls are using VoIP this can use a fair amount too.
I used to download a few TV series every week.
20GB a month is nothing, and is easily achievable without even trying.
40gb per is easily enough for 99% of internet users out there at the moment. BexTech, not all of us use the internet to stream radio and tv, make VoIP calls, and download tv series a few times a week. In fact out of all the people I know who have the internet there is only one person who downloads 24 to stay ahead of the game and none who stream tv and make VoIP calls. That's maybe 50+ people. The rest will get no where near 20gb. I'm a very heavy internet user but still don't use very much because at the moment I only use it to download songs sometimes and the rest is just browsing. I am looking to start downloading HD content so this may not suit me but I have another problem in that my connection isn't fast enough at the moment to download HD content so maybe it does suit me.
I don't think you should try and dissuade people from taking up this service just because they threatened to cut you off when you went over 20gb because for the most part not many people will get near that. Not until everyone starts using VoIP and downloading tv content anyway.0 -

Yes it says 18 months here:http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/servlet/gben-LLU-PageServer?article=MAIN.UK.TALKTALK.STATIC.TARIFFS.TALK3INTPF.0 -
Thanks to all you teckie guys out there who have identified the problem areas.
As someone who phones around the world almost daily I think I will stay away for now and use 18866, or 1899 or 18185!!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
I can understand the tie-in for 18 months, they will have to try to recover their investment somehow.
It looks a very good deal for £20.99pm IMHO, and you can sign up immediately - they'll put you on BT IPStream BB until they unbundle your exchange. I know there are issues, but I think it's a very bold step which I'm sure will make BT sit up...0
