I think it is a very strong offer - the line rental charge you already pay to BT so is not an extra cost so effectively you are getting fast BB with a decent download limit (40Gb is fine for 99% of people) and you get UNLIMITED free international calls as well as unlimited UK calls all fo 9.990

This can only be good news for us all ,now are broadband suppliers will have make there service cheaper to stop us changing landline and broadband to talk talk. So fingers crossed NTL Blueyonder BT & AOL sort out some better deals now.0

You would do wouldnt you.You are a TT employee who has a vested interest in the product being successful.
The calls are not free you pay for them in the package.
You dont get unlimited Intl Calls .Only certain destinations are covered.
You dont get unlimited UK Calls. Only unlimited calls to 01/02 numbers.Calls to 0845/0870 are not included.0 -

Absolutely correct - i am a TT employee but you know that from my previous post where i was very clear about the details of the offer. This current post was not attempting to be economical with the truth. For clarity:
For 9.99 (the line rental is irrelevant as you pay it to BT already):
You get unlimited calls to 28 countires worldwide - including most western countries such as the US, Australia and NZ. If we had only given free calls to obscure countries then it wouldn't have been any use to anyone.
You get unlimited calls to UK landlines, 24/7 excluding premium rate numbers. The offer already is going to make us a £50m loss this year. If it included premium rate numbers or mobiles then it would have been suicide for us.
And you get free broadband which will be as fast as your exchange can cope with up to 8Mb/sec.
Employee or no employee - that is still a bloody good deal. Given that we are currently getting 40,000 hits a second on the website - i think most others will agree.
HOWEVER, if you are a peer to peer user or v. heavy downloader then it is not for you. We are totally clear about that.0 -
Its a shame your tied into a 18 month contract.0

It may not be as good as the big players but its got to help get the prices down a bit, Which must be a good thing when fixed price dial up first started it changed everything for everyone then it was broadband at a fixed price and now FREE . Lets see what the big players make of that.0

It is tie in. However, but it is for the similar reason as you get tied into a mobile phone contract to get a free phone (to pay for the cost of the phone). The investment in changing over all the exchanges is HUGE. The 29.99 connection fee we are charging really is only token - it costs us much more to change it over per person connected so that is why we are asking for an 18 month commitment.
That said, we genuinely don't think anyone is going to be able to come close to matching the offer for that length of time due to the huge investment in unbundling local exchanges. The only people that could are BT - who can't due to their sheer volume of existing customers (it would make them go bust) nd Bulldog who are stuggling with current customer service issues that they couldn't risk it.0 -

If TalkTalk are going to make a £50m loss this year as a result of giving away free 24/7 calls why are they doing it? This doesn't sound like a good thing for a company interested in increasing profit to do... What I assume is happening is you will loose £50m worth of revenue from call charges but gain increased customers and increased revenue from the new customers being on a higher monthly tariff (regardless of calls being free). To say that TT will loose £50m a year from this isn't quite right.
Picky I know. But let's remember that Talk Talk aren't doing this for the benefit of customers. This is a fantastic deal and one that I am sure Talk Talk are planning on making money out of!!0 -

You are right. If the free BB was not available in your area then you will go onto the £10 BT ipstream which is 2Mb per second (so £10 for 2Mb BB, £9.99 for talk 3 and £11 which is the BT line rental which we take on) . This is still cheaper than most suppliers, if not all the moment (i can't be 100% on the competitor rates at the moment)
Hope this helps, let me know if this doesn't answer your question0
