TalkTalk...more like talk to yourself!

Options
Been waitng over 2 weeks now for MAC code. Called them 3 times and e-mailed . E-mails just receive an automated reply. When I speak to someone I just get 'fobbed off' saying your MAC code will be sent by e-mail today but never arrives.

Probably really obvious but have you checked they are sending it to the correct email address?

I queried my account once and they said they would send details to my email address, which I gave them verbally over the phone. My email address ends Pipex.com but the person I spoke to entered it on their records as pipex.co.uk so I never got the emails as promised. It was only when I asked them to check and spell out the email address they had on file that the mistake was discovered.

    I feel for you Cheghead,
I cannot offer a solution. it was just pot luck in the end that someone from CS investigated further. The previous person basically just said that there was no point calling CS anymore.
Normal methods of complaint just do not work with TT. You're just at their mercy.
I just hope word gets around via this forum not to touch TT with a bargepole and not to be tempted with their phone calls just because it's free to call other TT customers. What a shower!

    About the email thing.
Each time I spoke to them, I insisted that they sent me a test mail while I was on the phone to them.
I have been very happy with MAAF so far. They offered me support on how to deal with TT.
When I asked if they would honour the discount finishing on 31/3 if I didn't get the MAC code by then, they agreed ( not sure if I should have said that). What about the ukonline deal or have you discounted that as you're with BT?

Well I'm trying to change my phone to talktalk and I can't get a referral code for love nor money!! 3 email generations codes online, plus 2 emails and even 1 phone call and still no good! :( Think I might just stay were I am!

Definitely. Not worth it. I went with Primus saver 2 for free eve and WE calls and then 1899 for daytime ( 3p for entire call). If I have to call 0845 or 0870 (rarely), I divert to BT using 1280. I'd rather pay another company 3p rather than get my friends to join TT for a free phone call during the day.

Apart from that one little hiccup over the email address, I've never had ANY problems with TT. My phone bills are always under £10 and sometimes under a fiver. On the few occasions I've had to call their customer services they have always been helpful and friendly and sorted the problem out.

I have recommended TT to a lot of people.

Not the very same Talk Talk who have barred access to 1899,18866.etc. Who charge 50p a month for basic 1571 voicemail, and who charge for caller display.

The very same outfit who charge 4.5p a minute peak rate to call 0845 numbers.

BT line rental with basic 1571,and caller display £11. Same thing with TT £12.49 . Plus they charge existing customers for free e&w calls. Couple BT with Primus Saver and your get them free. ;)

Not a problem for me. I still have bt line rental with the free caller display and only use talk talk for calls. If I want to call a 0845 number I just go through bt ;)
