The Plusnet cs seem to have been trained the same way maaf cs have regarding terminations - they try and put various unwarranted (and wrong) charges against you, then eventually back down after a long, time consuming and escalated fight.

Though maybe the cs staff for both set ups are the same??

In the good old days when Samara ruled the waves, I was able to negotiate a discount with MAAF. I have benefited from this discount for a couple of years now. It's not as big a discount as I know some posters are achieving but I was quite happy with it.

Imagine my surprise when I got my invoice today and it had been increased to £17.61!

No prior notice given of the increase. Do I have to put up with this?

Needless to say I bounced an e-mail back explaining my discounted account. However, I have very little confidence in the way MAAF is administered these days.

So, unless they will keep my discounted subscription going I feel I've no option to say goodbye. Trouble is where do you go these days for decent customer service?

MAAF have replied and said that the increase was due to my 12 month contract ending. I do not recall ever signing up for a 12 month contract!

However, MAAF have now offered to keep me on my old discounted rate but on a 12 month contract. The rate is £9.61 pcm (inc VAT). Can this rate be bettered do you think?

I have always had a trouble free service from MAAF, but looking at the way their cs has deteriorated since Samara's days, I'm a bit reluctant to tie in to a 12 month contract.

I live out in the sticks so my achievable speed are limited. Options are fairly limited with other ISPs, ie the plusnet offer won't work from my exchange.

see post 2160 - £7.31/month seems easily achievable. Unless you can do better!

UPDATE: £4.50/month now reported as a retention deal easily obtained.

And this was on the more expensive 20GB package.

Well i have tried my luck and submitted a ticket (again). These really used to be such a good company, now i can't even get through on the phone! Maybe i should move any way, because if i ever get trouble with the connection, i don't feel comfortable that they are equipped to deal with any problems.

They were a fantastic company. But things have changed big time since the sell out to BT, and the downward spiral has continued.

Samara (from MAAF who started this thread) knew when to bail out!

well, i changed my ISP to sky and went active on monday and i cant wait to get back to maaf!

sky connect throttle you like crazy after 5pm and are lucky to achieve 1mb/s d/load speeds. more often than not down to below 500kbp/s.

no such issues with maaf. 6mb/s all day long.

do wish samara was still around tho.

Well i have moved over to plusnet, there was no hassle as they are madasafish's parent company, took literally 10 minutes on the phone.

Just a quick question as i have never moved BB before. Will it be seamless, or will i have a gap without a connection and will my router need to be reset or changed? or will it be automatic?

    Cheers
