Are we not within a month of 23/03...? Looks to me as though MAAF are trying to pull a fast one!
Thats the way i see it. Their billing cycle goes from 26/02/2009 to 25/03/2009 so i requested mac code on 26/02/09 hoping to migrate on 26/03/2009 with minimum extra charges. Looks like they are trying to screw me with early cancellation charges.:mad:0 -
If the 12 months are up on 23/03, then pulling a fast one looks to be the answer. Definitely according to the ts + cs you don't need to pay for hardware or activation once you've completed the minimum 12 months. And there is no "cancellation" charge to pay (again, as long as you give 30 days notice to end on or after the minimum 12 months).
This has been regularly reported by customers leaving in this thread, and the reps who came here would sort it.
Now they don't seem to come here, but similar problems do get aired at the maaf forum at thinkbroadband, where the usual "pm me your details" is quickly posted whenever these complaints are aired:

Yeah thanks have been scanning that forum this morning for similar complaints. Will post on their if I dont get satisfactory answer through the usual channels.0 -
I have just raised a ticket with them, I find them Excellent and never had a problem, but i can get double the Download for £2 extra at Plusnet.
Hope they can match it0 -
That's good, i hope. I always seem to be using 6-7Gb per month and i am on 5gb limit, so plusnet's 10gb limit would be ideal.0

There are some outstanding fees on your account:
Details:
- Deferred Hardware: 60.00
- Deferred Activation: 40.96
- Subscription charge covering period between
next invoice and 30 days notice from cancellation request (6 days).: 5.09
- Madasafish Max Plus Broadband (Cancellation): 25.44
Looks like they are trying to charge me for the wireless router they supplied me with 12 months ago but unsure what the rest of the charges are. Whatever they are they can stick them up their a*se.
Anyone with similar charges/problems when trying to migrate?
They are a bunch of useless comedians - tried to charge me exactly the same - complained and they then said oops you only owe us 3.36. Surprise surprise they then take a full direct debit off me this month - complained again and they said oops we will refund you. If anyone is still thinking of joining these clowns steer well clear.0 -
They were quoting me these amounts as they were treating me as if I was leaving before my contract finished. Having pointed out that I don't intend to migrate before it ends they have confirmed I will not need to pay these charges. Now lets see if my migration goes smoothly!0

Well my speeds with MAAF have generally been pretty good.
I notice you are still with MAAF.
Has anyone moved from MAAF to Plusnet via Quidco or similar?
Thanks.
PeterWhy do you say that?
Maaf have restrictions, but aren't so open about them - preferring to call it "traffic prioritisation"??
Those speed restrictions listed for plusnet are just for the listed applications - they don't do the restrictions for normal surfing etc (and in fact say normal web surfing/video streaming never gets restricted, but prioritised at all times).0 -
I would steer well clear of plusnet if I were you.
They used to have a very good reputation but were bought over by BT in late 2006 and have never been the same since.
Court cases with the previous owner, really poor customer services etc.
I have been involved in a 3 month dispute with them recently.
Stay well clear!0
