Normally when you change there is a short break between one ISP being removed and the other activating your account.
But as maaf & pn are the same company, then it may be you won't.
Your router will probably need resetting as your account name/password will be different.
If you get in touch with them, they say they will allow maaf customers to reduce from their minimum 18 to 12 months if they go to pn and don't take the "free" hardware.0 -
Thanks, well i have not taken the free hardware, but no mention of reduction to 12 month. I'll pin them a mail and see if they play ball.
Cheers for the heads up.0 -

Just to update, switch over happen today from MAAF to Plusnet - seemless, no need to reset router at all! Also i had emails and SMS message through out the process - very simple and easy - very happy0

What was their response over asking to be put on a 12 month contract (instead of 18)?0
-
I have not tried yet, to be honest i have not logged into my account with plusnet - will try that this morning. The thing is that you never get any paper work, so no proof what so ever. Would an email stand up in court?
Cheers0 -
Don't think it would come to that - as were they to renege on this deal which they are apparently only giving to both their existing customers and maaf customers who switch to this new 18 month contract they would feel the wrath big time!
That's because the reduction to a 12 month tie in is only being given to customers who are "in the know" via their forums. So should they break their word they could expect this to be publicised, and would be counter productive for them!
18 months is a long time to find yourself tied in to this new product if it goes sour after a couple of months, so getting that tie in down to 12 months is worth asking for. And it means if you like it, the chance to negotiate a retention deal will come 6 months earlier!0
