Knowing what they are like on anything like this it might be best to do it via their cs rep. It seems he doesn't bother with this forum any more, but go to their other forum and contact him there (Metronet James is his handle there):

That thread discusses switching from maaf to get the plusnet deal, and he has posted there.0 -

Although I have had a pretty much trouble free service at MAAF for a few years, if Plusnet are offering 5.99 compared with MAAF renewal at 7.50, then assuming they are otherwise identical in respect of product quality & service, then why isn't everyone moving? I note their Value product is an 18 month contract.0 -
If you look at that thread, the rep is saying maaf customers only need to enter a new 12 month contract. (ie the same as a plusnet customer switching)0

Don't assume that they are identical products! PlusNet have always had lots of small print e.g. here page last updated 25th February 2009.
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Of the restricted applications they list, gamers appear to be getting some priority over the others. (They get 2mb at all times)
And other users of the applications listed can only get their line speed between midnight and 2:00 am!0 -
Why do you say that?
Maaf have restrictions, but aren't so open about them - preferring to call it "traffic prioritisation"??
Those speed restrictions listed for plusnet are just for the listed applications - they don't do the restrictions for normal surfing etc (and in fact say normal web surfing/video streaming never gets restricted, but prioritised at all times).0 -
