What a shame !! This was getting quite interesting!
GeoThermal is obviously right about BB being better, but the cost factor has to be taken into consideration and those of us still on the old "steam" dial-up cannot fault Fast 4 at present, especially if like me you are only paying £5 per month ! Never mind Alared - £6.99 is a very good price !!! ~I have just realised why Geo T is so named, it's cold enough down here but you must freezing your whatsits off up there !!!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
For those interested in dial-up, Fast 4 is still the best value around these daysat £6.99 per month 24/7. And I haven't see any negative posts for them of late. Just have to watch the account date creeping forward, but they rectify it straight away when you let them know. (If it happens)."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

The reason there`s no problem with them is because there`s only you and me and a handful of others that recognise great value at £6-99 a month unlimited when they see it!0

Well I have found Fast 4 ok, especially the price, but have been getting very fed up lately, takes about four or five go's before we get hooked up especially during the day, also have been trying to send some photos and being on dial up as you know it takes ages, and they have cut me off long before the two hours was up, I phoned them, one thing they do not keep you waiting long, and they were polite but said you could only do a certain size to send, and also if it takes a while someone else needs to take a turn!!!
Its a good job I do not download any music etc,
I also tried to download a file for a photograph programme, got cut off again. Managed in the end to find a programme that only took half an hour so it was ok, so I suppose you pays your money and takes your choice!! Best regards oap0 -
I've rarely had a problem with fast4net - the majority of my useage is peaktime but day time too. The only annoying thing is the 2hr cut off - I need to make sure I'm not in the middle of something and I sometimes forget. I have a payg freeserve backup just in case. I had to use it the other day but that was only because I hadn't used it for 90 days and they suspended my e-mail account - had to re-register and then it was ok.0

It is cheap as chips but it is definitely not unlimited.0 -
A word of warning, picked up from another thread. This Fast4 user (sane01) cancelled by letter and heard no more for 2 months and then received a Credit Collection Agency letter demanding £80 odd !!. She was asking for help and I have only just noticed the post so it is probably too late for her, but for the rest of you, make sure you cancel by recorded delivery. I don't think cancelling your DD will work as they could still say that they have not received the cancellation letter and sting you for a larger sum!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

Surely there is a facility to cancel your account on line - then there would be no doubt about it?

Yes you can do it on line, but you can also telephone them, they are very helpful, we pay by credit card and have not tried to stop it, but I am sure a telephone call will suffice and you could ask them to confirm by e mail to you.0
