FAST 4 CONNECTION DIARY 2

I have tried them. I base my opinion of them on having been a customer and having my account closed without warning for using their "unlimited" service too much.0

I have been with F4 for 2 1/2 years now and easily average 40 plus hours a week and have never had any problems regards "over use".
Certain people I suspect were trying to be clever and used auto dialers, which immediately ring the number again when the connection is dropped after the 2 hour period.
These people have been caught out and have only got themselves to blame for being turfed out of F4.
Common sense dictates that you can`t be sat using a computer for 16 let alone 24 hours a day.
https://www.fast4.net is an absolute bargain for £6-99 a month for unlimited dial-up(without an auto dialer)0 -
You are making big assumptions there. I for one did not use Fast4 as an unattended service as they claimed. I was often using the connection for 12 hours a day though, reconnecting manually as soon as I was disconnected. They said they "doubted" such long connections were unattended, however they were wrong. I did not get the benefit of their doubt though, nor did I get a refund for the remainder of the month.
£6.99 is a bargain but it is not unlimited. YMMV0 -
Who are you with now
What do you pay a month
How long are you connected for in a 24 hour period0 -
Virgin.net broadband at £14.990
-
What`s the download restrictions on that per month ---- 2gb0

3GB which I don't get near. What point are you trying to make?0
-
No point, just wondered what happened after F4 disconnected you.
Had you been looking at Virgin beforehand or was it recommended by someone.
I`ve been looking at BB myself but only paying £6-99 at the mo,I don`t think it`s worth switching.
The first time F4 put the price up, I`ll be going elsewhere (handy to have a plan lined up)
If you are still using it 12 hours a day I would imagine 3GB is ample.0 -
Bah humbug, I was all ready with my counter arguments!
The Fast4 price is so cheap it is quite a leap when changing to Broadband pricewise but I've found it well worth it. It does make the Internet experience much better.
I went with Virgin because they had free connection, modem and no claw back fee (at the time) if you cancelled before 12 months. They now say they reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee if you leave before 12 months have passed although I haven't heard of them actually doing it. Anyone got experience of this? I had read some good reviews and some bad ones but in the end it came down to the no connection fee and option to leave early if the service was poor.
I've found them to be very reliable though; no disconenctions since I started using them back in July/August 2005 and the speed seems consistent. They use DataStream though instead of the more common/preferred IPStream so my experince may be based on where I am (north Scotland) and the exchange I'm on. I signed my mum and dad up to them as well and they have also found them to be very good. They are on the same exchange as me though.
I don't use it so much anymore all the same, although still a good few hours a day. I remembered there's a whole world on the doorstep to see!0 -
Thanks for that input.
I`m quite happy with F4 for now but if the price changes I will certainly look at Virgin.
I don`t really think anyone can say XXXXXX is the best (look what happened with E7even).
I think you`ve just got to take your chance and not take out a long term contract.
(monthly being ideal)
Bit of snow up your way at the mo,might slow down your connection speed!
Have holidayed up your way the last two years, very senic.
Cheers Alared0
