F4 has got a new members area to log into.
It does appear that there is a facility to cancel your account.
When clicking on it,it tells you how long you`ve been a member and then asks you to continue to a series of questions,which I would imagined are designed to get you to stay with them.
I didn`t proceed as far as that because I have no intention of cancelling their great cheap service.
£6-99 a month unlimited cannot be beaten and no problems at all with getting connected.
A real bargain.

Well I've waited for the price war on BB which has not materialised, but have got fed up with the speed of accessing sites and the odd download. If somebody sends any photos by email it also takes ages, so I am taking the plunge and guess who with ---- YES, FAST 4. !! They have offered half-price connection (£23.50) plus a free modem for £7.04 P & P. (already have one so I'll flog it on EBAY). then £9.95 a month if you take their phone deal (not too sure about this but it saves £2 per month) and I can do away with my 2nd phone line which will save me £11 per month. I will let you know how it goes guys, but the old saying goes "It was good while it lasted" !! (especially at £5 per month). So this may be my last post on the FAST 4 dial-up site, UNLESS SOMEONE CAN COME UP WITH A BETTER DEAL !! (The talk/talk deal does not work for my area). Incidentally did you know that you can get a reduction in your FAST4 sub by recommending other users ? I did not, but check this thread :

I've been a Fast4net dial up customer for a couple of years now with no problems and I was thinking of moving to broadband, how do I go about getting the reduced connection fee and cheap modem? I looked on the website but I couldn't find anything.

OK. You have to phone the sales line and explain that you are an existing customer. I used the V.21 (parent company) freephone sales line and spoke to a nice lady and explained that I was thinking of going BB and wanted to know if they could offer anything special for an existing customer. Tell them you are with Fast 4. They will look at your history with them and first of all she offered £10 off the connection fee, then without prompting, "as you have been with us for quite a while, we can do a bit better than that" and offered the half price deal. The 'free' modem was also then offered. You stay with Fast4 so keep exisiting email addresses.
Give them a call on 0800 089 2121. If no luck try the Fast 4 number which is 0800 089 0076.

I sent them a message via there web site .they phoned me and offered me the same deal . I will miss my £5 dial up .I could get the talk Talk deal but I have had problems with TT phone offers and dont need an 18 month contract with TT.

What have you decided to do?
I`m still very reluctant to give up the bargain dial-up at £6-99 a month unlimited.
(even cheaper for the fiver brigade)

I have more or less decided to go with the deal, but just waiting a few more days to see if a new offer breaks. I am in a different position than most as I have a 2nd phone line (left over from my working days). But now my wife is heavily involved in an organisation which means she needs to use the phone quite a lot, so dropping one phone line and staying with dial-up was a non-starter and I hated paying BT 2 line rentals. The monthly subs. with V21 or Fast 4 are £9.95 if you take the phone deal and £11.95 if you don't. You can still use 1899 etc. Only a £5iver more per month for you, but a £7 per month saving for me. At least I will still be with Fast 4 !!! There is one snag, it is a 12-month contract!

Is the £9-95/£11-95 offer the one you have to ring up for long standing customers, because the cheapest I could see on their site is £14-99 for 512 speed.

Update
I`ve just looked on the site again and can see the one you mean.
2MB speed but limited to 2GB a month.
Would that be enough?

It would be enough for me as I do not download music or videos (well not at present). I assume you don't either otherwise you would not be on dial-up!! 2GB is quite a lot and some companies have a 1GB limit which seems enough for loads of people. The other one worth looking at is Primus Option2. This gives you free evening and week-end calls and if you take the phone deal it is only £12.98 per month, 1MB speed and no download limit. Again a 12-month contract and also with free modem. There is no connection charge !!
