  • Avoid this company - their website is false and misleading.

THEY SAY THAT YOUR PHONE IS WORTH X AMOUNT THEN OFFER YOU A STUPIDLY LOW PRICE ONCE THEY'VE ACTUALLY GOT YOUR PHONE AND SAY YOUR PHONE IS NOT WORKING (WHEN IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY WHEN I SENT IT) , WASTE OF TIME!! THEY WONT EVEN SEND YOU YOUR PHONE BACK!!
  • I originally was quoted £85 in Argos vouchers. But now starting to worry after reading these posts.

Logged into their website and saw that my phone has been received and they have reduced my quote to £82 because of wear and tear. So not going to grumble at 3 quid loss.

However when I ran a new search on my phone model I noticed that they are now offering £66 !!!

So I'm not hopeful of getting my £82, but will keep you's updated
  • It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever, provided they received your phone within the timescale laid down when you contracted to sell it to them. If they attempt to reduce the price retrospectively they will be in breach of contract if (as you say) they have accepted the phone at the value of £82. If it's only a "quote", that is a different matter.

Yeah I guess you are right. My phone has been accepted at £82 so I'm happy with that. :)
  • Just to add my own experience of Mobile Phone Xchange to this forum. I researched the best site to use to get the most money for my old phone (Nokia 5800 xpress) and they came top of the list (unfortunately I didn't research this forum beforehand!) They quoted £75, which I was happy with, and I sent the phone to them with no issues at this point. Today I received an email stating that after inspection the value was now £46 as the "touchscreen has heavy scratching". This is utter nonsense as I had the phone for only 12 mths and have taken great care of it and checked it thoroughly before sending. It was shocking to hear they were knocking off 35% from the original quote for no valid reason at all!

I called them straight away and, maybe luckily after reading these posts, got through to them fairly quickly. I explained the situation and expressed my disgust at the outcome and the lad at the other end said to "resolve this issue quickly for both of us" wanted to "offer me a goodwill gesture of £15 extra" to take the amount up to £61. He also said that they could have the phone re examined by a person with higher authority but I decided to cut my losses and take the £61 offered for fear of never getting through to them again and maybe waiting further weeks for any future news!

In short I totally agree with what is being said in this post and it seems to be simply a scam on their part to gain extra money even if the phones are in very, very good condition. Shocking service, shocking experience, shocking 'company'. DO NOT USE MOBILE PHONE XCHANGE!!!!
  • Hi! I am so glad i read this forum before i sent my phone off!! I have requested an freepost envelope from them. I just hope I am under no obligation to use this now!!!
  • I wish I has read this forum before I sent my N97 off, I have always used Evirofone and have always been very happy with them, but Mobile X change was offering a lot more for this particular phone this time.. CON: valued it at a lot less because of a heavily scratched screen - I know for a fact there wasn't one scratch on it!! Now they aren't answering their phone! AVOID at all costs.

first of all, i find it really strange that 90% of the comments in this forum are made by "members" with so far only 1 post and posted on THE SAME DAY THEY JOINED.
I;m sorry, but you dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that this whole thread itself has been scammed. I mean, these "members" even type the same thing:

eg: MARNI70 (on the 1st page of this thread) said "THEY SAY THAT YOUR PHONE IS WORTH X AMOUNT" and that was back in 1st of january - the same day she joined. And up till today she only has 1 post which means she joined specifically to post that.

and then Murf9922 (on the 5th page of this thread) posted the same sentence again this month, with only 1 post so far, and he posted that the same day he joined.

if you look at those "members/trolls" they have the same username combination name and random numbers. surely the moderators should be doing something about this?

i've used Mobile Phone Exchange for my blackberry curve with no problem whatsoever. the prices on the site is afterall as pointed out by this member (with over 3,500 posts) on the 5th page of the thread, to be a QUOTE.
a QUOTE is different to a CONTRACT. if they signed a deal with you saying yeah, we'll give you £100 for your phone but they only gave you £7 in the end, then that's a scam. but a quote especially for something they HAVE NOT YET seen - how can that be a scam? i've seen eBay scams, like PROPER scams.

also, i'm sorry to point this out but no-one would have been able to make ANY MONEY in the first place anyway, with the phone still being in your drawer. to be honest, I was happy i even got £45 in the end for the phone. went out and got curry with my mates. it was a £45 i would otherwise have not got.

i would check my sources before believing eveyrthing. it seems even forums like this can be easily duped. such a shame. i dont particularly endorse MPX, i've used Mazuma for my partner;s mobile hpone just to check them out and they were about the same, nothing different.

    research your sources folks!

  • The point above is rather interesting. And although I have low post count, I am actually a genuine member.

Anyway, thought I'd log in to post a positive comment about these guys. I sent my Toshiba TG01 to them last week. It had a large scratch on the screen and the back of the phone was slightly damaged. Their initial quote was £58.

I just received a reply email this morning saying "Quoted: £58, Inspected Value: £58" and that they will make the payment on November 25th, straight into my bank account.

This is the first time I've ever used one of these sites, as I imagined it would be a massive hassle, but it really wasn't. Stuck that £58 on my orange account and now don't need to pay a bill on my new phone for 3 months. Perfect!

hmm wish i had read this thread before I posted mine off

surprise surprise got an email offering me £40 instead of the quoted £80 for a good as new, excellent condition phone - they said the casing was cracked which it definitely wasnt. Anyway someone on the phone offered me £50 to settle so we will see if it materialises. Not happy. I had a couple more phones to send off, but think I will go with Ebay now:mad:
