got an email offering me £40 instead of the quoted £80 for a good as new, excellent condition phone

mate - the key word here is "quote". a quote is not a contract, no?
if it was as good as new and excellent, then it should be in its own box, in its original packaging at LEAST, if its not shrinkwrapped.

i swear, we all complain too much. suddenly they're ALL scammers, if its not Mazuma, it's mobilephonexchange. if its not mobile phone exchange, its envirophone. if its not envirophone, its eBay. c'mon people....

Maybe this would be my ideal business, I will be upfront on prices though.

I will offer £2500 for a perfect iphone 4, -£1999 if it has the antenna fault (100% of them?)

-£499 if the screen has fingerprints, Which it will have after i have inspected it.

    -£1 for any other damage.

I will be selling them for £250 or nearest offer lol.

They way prices fluctuate on items like these i can see how hard it would be to offer fair prices but
still buy the item and leave enough to make a profit. If the phone doesnt sell quickly it could be worthless
    in a few months.

Some of the phones i have had on contract over the years were worth £200+ but prices on those sites are
only a couple of £ at best.

Maybe a good way to shift a new unwanted contract phone, But 2nd hand & slightly older phones will be risky.

PS... Please dont message or PM me with your unwanted junk. I only use ebay for that. lol.

i have posted my phone to this company, touch hd, all i did was a web search for the best offer, wish i had researched, they quoted £91, i sent it in and have the exact same response, - reduction to £61 due to heavy scratching (there is one scratch but when the phone is on it is not noticeable, i had phone for 2 years and scratch was there within first 2 mths, i survived. they also say there is water damage - i am calling complete lies on this, and the pen / screen dabber is missing/ again complete lies, i think they took that to complete another better condition phone, i also think these twerps expect to sell the phones as new or good as, you can buy phones from there web site.

What can be done to get them check out? i took photos for ebay prior to sending, but its my word against theres that i sent the pen thing.

i have requested the phone back though, at there cost. i agreed the contract based on the original quote. they changed that so i am not willing to except the new terms.
  • The reason many people will post only once then leave is because they have no interest in this forum other than to warn others about this paticular company, like myself having just received a revised offer much lower than the qoute due to "the touchscreen has heavy scratching"

i know for a fact it has no scratches as a used a protective layer and only peeled this off just before posting. Apparently they will re-check my phone and get back to me but after reading this forum i dont have much hope!

Exactly as above if you wish to send your phone off to this company please feel free to do so at your own cost but i would take note about everyones experiences with this company a quick google search would bring up many bad reviews of this company without mse doing it for them i personally just dont want others to receive the same service as i did
  • Hate to say it peeps but this company is a massive scam. Same story as most others. Old Nokia n73 quoted £41, come back saying it is scratched (it wasn't). Say they'll pay £10, then up it to £21 when you complain, then say they'll pay £5 goodwill on top of it - if you're not happy they'll charge £10 to return it to you. Today they have just paid £10 into my account for the phone so now having to chase for the rest of my money.

Avoid this company like the plague. Have reported to Trading Standards.
  • Sent off an amost brand new Blackberry Curve, in perfect condition, perfect working order recently and website stated that the money would be in my paypal account within 48 hours of them receiving it. The tracking number is useless as cant be tracked online. Phone line engaged or just does not get answered. I have a horrid feeling about this and wil keep you all updated.

Yet another one here I'm afraid!!

I sent off a perfectly good Jet and Pixon phone last week. The Jet was mine (I'm an office based employee) and the Pixon was my hubby's (he works in a builders merchants....thus...I'd expect my phone to be in better condition than his!).

Had an email back today to say that the JET has heavy scratching and have reduced their offer from £69 to £42!!!! There was no scratching on the phone!!!:(

I've emailed them back and asked them to review.....will wait with baited breath and update you when I receive a response!

ETA - I am also a genuine member but have only ever really used the site to read through advice. I just wanted to share my experience - It concerns me that this company seem to be dropping the price for the exact same reason each time! Kev_b...You're obviously one of the lucky ones who got what he was quoted but this seems to happen quite rarely!!!
  • I didn't receive a response to the emails that I'd sent so I called them today.

They reviewed the information on the alleged scratches on the phone, agreed that there were no major scratches (just a couple of minor ones which you'd expect with a 12mth old phone) and promptly agreed to increase the amount to £62...only £7 less than the original offer! :j

I've accepted, she processed the payment there and then so on Thursday, I'll be off to Argos to buy a new TV for the kitchen with the proceeds!! :D
  • Hi

My First Post, doing so as a disgruntled customer.

I recently sent my phone into Mobile Phone Xchange,

I was quoted initially £35 before I sent in my Tocco Lite. It took a week for them to e-mail to say they had received it but as it was badly scratched (it wasn't badly scratched at all, it was scratched through day to day wear) could only offer me £17. Obviously I did not want to accept this I could have sold it for more on E-Bay or with another recycle company so I replied to this effect and asked if they can return the phone to me.

Three days later I got an e-mail to say the very best offer they can make is £25 and otherwise if I want them to return the phone I have to pay a £10 administration charge.

    I have accepted the £25.

All in all it is a very disappointing service as I could have got more for my phone from other companies but as Mobile Phone Xchange quoted the most initially this is why I sent it to them. I have sent phones to Environ and Fonebank in the past and had no problems. I will NOT be sending a phone there again and really wish I had of read this forum before I sent in this one!
