I know loads of people who have been ripped off by them and complained to watchdog so let's hope the cowboys get their just desserts.0

should be a sticky this thread imo.0

Another "I wish I`d read this thread before I...." post.
Their business model is based on the "bait and switch" approach.
I was quoted £63, but offered 42. Alternatively I donate £10 to get my phone back.
Got the severe scratches reason as well, which is a lie.
You have been warned.0 -
yet they still stay in business. Anyone contacted trading standards?0

I too have fallen victim to these absolute con artists! I recently got a quote for an old iPhone 3G which was quoted with the value of £102 (which was a lot more than others had offered) after 2 weeks of reminder e-mails to tell me they had not yet recieved my handset I finally got one yesterday with a confirmation and offer of £18.
My phone DOES have damage but is still worth far more than the 18 pathetic pounds they have offered me!! I made quotes on other more common websites where you can clearly state the level of damage and still got clean cut quotes for between £70-£80.
I called them today as I seem to have experienced difficulties with e-mail (where they just wont send at all) the lady I spoke couldn't have been less interested if she'd tried she was rude and low and behold offered me £30 which I was still not satisfied with, therefore I questioned having my own phone returned to find there would be a £10 charge when I was only quoted £30 in the end it hardly seems worth it and from own experience I know it doesn't cost £10 in postal fees.
I have since contacted Trading Standards and made them aware of how they ripped me off and by the looks of things many others, but to get anywhere in my argument they basically told me it'd take a lot of chasing which I don't have time for when I work full time!
Sickening service and making a mockery of innocent people! DON'T USE THEM!!!!0 -
Put me down for another wish I had researched this company first post.
They received my Desire (quoted at £143) on Thursday and very quickly marked it down to £99 due to "heavy scratching on the touch screen" and like most others here no heavy scratching (never mind any scratches exist).
I rang them up and a lady agreed to have the phone revalued- this time the price crept up to £120(still not good enough). I gave them a call again to ask exactly why the value was still not at £143 to be told it would be re valued again and that I'd receive a call once this happened.
I made it absolutely clear that I did not accept the £99 price let alone the £120 price and was told the payment would be on hold. However, I've just checked with my bank account online and I've been credited £99.
I'm very annoyed with this company and will be giving them another call in the morning. I will also be reporting them to trading standards and hope that the company is removed from the mobile valuer website.0 -
I sent my SonyEricsson Vivas off to MPXchange having been quoted £49 by their website. I got an email confirming they had been received and inspected it. I was shocked that the original price of £49 had now dropped to £11 following their inspection!! They blame a small scratch on the surface (which I cant remember being there!) as being the reason for the 78% difference!
I have sent an email asking them to return my phone and am awaiting their reply.
AVOID AT ALL ACCOUNTS AS A SIMILAR THING HAS ALSO HAPPENED A FRIEND OF MINE WITH THIS COMPANY.

I got a quote of £ 76.00 online for my Nokia E72. Even before the envelope arrived, I wondered about the safety of mailing a phone and I then learned their pre pay is ordinary post (probably everyone elses too), so you would need to send a phone to any buyer by recorded and insured delivery.
When I saw the quality of the envelope they sent for mailing, I immediately thought to myself "someone's not using much brainpower here", the envelope was so thin (although padded), it was see through.
To mail it recorded would cost more than five pounds, so knock that off your expected value. Also, I was suspicious that once they have your phone, you are in a bit of a fix, because if they renege on their promised amount, they won't go to the expense of shipping your phone back by the same method.
Just like these cash my gold cowboys, these mobile phone outfits are playing a numbers game. A lot of people won't get into a fight over their "old phone" and will accept the reduced offer because of the hassle involved in getting the phone back.
Having read these threads, I've decided I won't be using their flimsy envelope and spending five pounds mailing a perfectly good smartphone to them, when I can probably get a similar price on E Bay and get the buyer to pay the insured shipping cost.
Perhaps my comments will help others considering taking this gamble. KP0 -
I must confess I'm a little puzzled as to why anyone would use this company. I get lots of contracts and generally sell the phones as soon as they arrive; although not as up-market as many on here, I have NEVER found Mobile phone Exchange to offer the best prices (though they may compared with some other places). Usually (though there are rare exceptions) CEX (internet, not shops) offer far superior prices and generally pay what is promised. I wouldn't say they are trouble free - but I have enough faith to have sent yet another phone off to them for a good price this afternoon.0

Sadly, I am joining the list of people "done over" by this company. I phone 3GS 16GB valued at £121. Just received the email this morning saying they have revalued it, because of a small crack, to £54. This phone was perfect when it left me, wrapped in bubble wrap, and put in a small cardboard box. I took photographs of its perfect condition before I sent it. It could not possibly have been damaged in transit. I asked for it to be sent back but.... I obviously have to pay £10 for the privilege of getting my own property back. I have told them that if, when it does come back, it is in any way damaged, cracked, broken or otherwise I will be reporting them to Trading Standards.
PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!0
