  • My mobile provider is Vodafone and they use MPX to handle their phone buy-back scheme. I checked around and MPX were offering one of the best rates for my phone which was in excellent condition as I had always kept it in a case and used a screen saver film for protection.

I decided to go with Vodafone/MPX despite reading all the negative comments as I couldn't believe that Vodafone would link up with a company without satisfying themselves that they would offer a proper service. So I filled in the details on line and printed up the Special Delivery address label from the site. I brought up the IMEI code on the screen of my phone and took a photo of it which I printed out. I also wrote the order number given to me for the transaction onto the print out of the phone pic and enclosed that with the phone in a jiffy bag which I then put into another jiffy bag for extra protection. I then posted it special delivery at a cost of £5 which offers insurance against loss or damage in transit. It was delivered before mid day the next day (a Friday) and by 1:00 I received an email from MPX confirming receipt and that they would be transferring the full sum to my account on the following Monday. This they did and on checking my account on Tuesday, the money was in place.

I can't fault the service and would have no problem recommending MPX to others - providing, of course, that the phone in question really was in top condition and that all precautions were taken to make sure the phone was identified with its IMEI code and the MPX Order Number and correctly packaged for posting.
  • Says on website will take 2-3 workings days! Just waited 10 and then had to email them asking about it to which i got a reply saying my phone had faulty buttons and could only offer me £116. My phone was 100% in top class working condition befor i sent it! I phoned to ask for the phone back and to see what was wrong with the buttons and the women on the phone told me all it says is faulty buttons! !!!!!!!!! i then demanded my phone be sent back and she was extremely rude and replied I'VE ALREADY DONE IT" like a stroppy teenager. Im not suprised she reacted like this as she must receive ALOT of complaints! Requested the phone be sent back with immeadiate effect! Got the phone back and suprise suprise ALL buttons were fine! DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!!! will be posting this on every website available and contacting trading standards!

STAY AWAY AS THEY WILL LIE AND STEAL FROM YOU!!!!!
  • I recently posted my phone which was in perfect condition, the contract was I was to receive £53.00 which was £5.00 more than the best offer online, I just received a email reply advising the phone had been received and was water damaged and scratched. I have proof the phone was in perfect condition when posted and it was wrapped well and sealed in there own water tight bag.
They advised they will only be paying £7.00 for the phone.
The photos they have returned are not of my handset and I can prove this.

I have emailed back and asked for the phone to be returned immediate and I will be seeking legal advice if it returns damaged.

I would not recommend this company. I will update once I have had legal advice, sending photos of a handset that is not yours claiming it is damaged is fraud so I best leave it at that until I have taken this further.
  • Just sent them my old iphone 4. I got an email back saying my quote is £18 less than originally stated. They attached a picture in the mail, I swear its not my phone.
    Bad luck breeds bad luck.

    Damn I'm doomed.
  • I also notice they say on the email "In most cases we'll recondition and reuse your handset in developing countries" but has a sister site that sells second hand phones. lol
    Bad luck breeds bad luck.

    Damn I'm doomed.
  • Mobile Phone Xchange / Vodafone Buyback – Don’t touch with a barge pole (you’ve been warned)!

I can only echo the majority of comments I’ve subsequentlyseen on numerous internet forums. My personal experience of the Mobile PhoneXchange was nothing more than a SCAM. Pleasedo NOT bother with thiscompany!

Initially offered £74for my old Blackberry Bold 9780 and with the company affiliated to Vodafone (mynetwork for 10+ years) I thought that sounded like a reasonable offer. I was gobsmacked when a few days aftersending my phone by special delivery costing me £6+, I received an email from theMobile Phone Xchange with a reduced offer at £17 due to the display window having severe scratching.

I rang to ask for the phone to be sent back and wasimmediately offered £10 extra taking the total to £27 (I suspect they do thisbecause they can see that you have already paid for the delivery). Still £47below the original offer (£53 if you factor in the £6 postage) I asked for thephone to be returned.

My work colleagues looked at the phone when it arrived backand guess what? They all thought exactly the same as me - where was the severescratching?!

Why Vodafone would want to be associated with these guys isbeyond me.

In the end I took it to a local phone exchange shop in townand they valued it there and then - £55 in cash!

My advice - just go straight to a local business whichbuys/sells mobile phones and get a face-to face valuation. If everyone did this then we can rid theworld of these internet scammers.

Can you hook us up with some kind of discount? Seeing as you work for them judging from your other posts :rotfl:
  • Posted newish BlackBerry Bold 9900, i used freepost envelope and they deny receiving the phone, i used other companies before using freepost envelope and never had a problem. Have reported to Royal mail to see what they can trace

Researched this company after instead of before using and found lots of others had same issue, the website looks proper but if you research you will see on street view the location and director has dissolved several other companies.

DODGE! such a shame when people feel the need to con people, could be an honest successful long term business, they made the effort with website ect , but word will spread and Karma will take care of this lot....:A
  • "Karma" didn't help you much. Research beforehand would have.
