Fine by me. The person who raised the question has a mind of their own and it's up to them to research and judge. However, I wouldn't be recommending an agency site which includes some of THE worst companies like the Mobile Outlet on it's lists of deals! But that's just me; maybe all those who've had to resort to suing them would agree with you. Where does anyone say on here that Phones4U are relaible too???? Have you ever tried emailing them and asking ANY specific questions about their cashback t&c OR seen the ones which arrive with the phone? Have you actually done a google search and seen the feedback on them? Well, ok; if it glitters it must be gold... If it has high street branches it must pay up and have a good reputation... not!0

Ok then I suggest that ex3199 have a look at this thread and especially the polls which give each of the companies cashback performance. Looking at them I would say that e2save and carphone warehouse are the most reliable. If you are a complete newbie then I suggest you use either e2save/CW but again make sure you read all the T&C's carefully!
I have used CW before for a previous contract and they were fine, I got the entire cashback without any problems!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

I would agree with that. Not that I am a great fan of any of these companies nowadays! Even cpw has stolen a competitor's t&c on the excuse of "price matching" - even though the only thing they match are the t&c!
This is all a game; the better the deals, the more risks you take. The companies which offer the best deals do even more to trip people up. It's a balance between those who they have to pay and those they don't - otherwise they'd lose money on every single contract. Unfortunately many are now resorting to totally dishonest tactics. I still take out deals and I DO agree with Maniac886 about cpw being about the safest. But none of them are risk free and whichever one anyone goes with I also would really recommend very strongly they read through the CURRENT t&c VERY carefully and ask lots of questions if necessary so they understand exactly what they're doing. I always start off with the premise that I WILL have to sue to get my money. As a result, despite having had about 10 contracts and got the same number for friends and family, thus far that has never been needed. I have been very tempted by some of the most direputable dealers; but fortunately have avoided most of them. I also read these forums (and others) most days for months before taking my first steps - and was very glad I did.
I am, in fact, very grateful to all those people who have put their experiences on here - and I welcome Maniac886's too. If there was consistent enough positive feedback about a dealer, they are less likely to go bust AND their t&c are both clear and reasonable I would go with them without hesitation. Cpw are about as safe as it gets right now; it IS unfortunate that other dealers aren't (in my judgement) offering more reliable competition.0 -
I apologise if this is duplicating, however, I have tried searching before posting this new thread. Before ordering my mobile phone on cashback I read through lots of advice on here and was/am convinced that I will get my cashback. I pay £35 per month which includes 500 minutes and 250 texts (12 months on vodafone).I rec'd my phone on 2nd June 07' and my sales invoice is dated 1st June 07'. I rec'd my fist bill from vodafone dated 9th July on 13th July, it breaks down the service charge for the period of 1 Jun to 29 Jul.My first payment (2 x months) will be taken from my account on 23rd July by DD.My 1st claim voucher for the cashback states it is to be rec'd by BuyMobilePhones.net within 14 days of the date on my 5th airtime bill.My question is this :- Does my first bill from vodafone explained above, count as 2 months airtime????I really would appreciate any help on this matter, I still have time to sort it out but I do like to be organised and from what I have read previously you need to be!!!!
There appears to be alot of experience on this comapny - but has anybody come across this before????keep saving :wave:0 -
Try OFTEL you can get a complaints reference number to wave at them0

Apart from a light !!!! up at the begining (their fault not mine - obviously!!!) I haven't had any problems with them at all.
BUT, like I've mentioned before, I send all of my paperwork using Royal Mail Special Next Day Delivery.
Ok, so it might cost me a fiver, but at least then I know it's got there and I have an electronic signature.
I do also think that people should not only double check but treble check there T&C's and also any paperwork they should receive IMMEDIATELY. This way, when you email/fax them there are dates and confirmation dates on paperwork that will help you if you end up having to go to the small claims court.
I would genuinely recommend them BUT ONLY for people who are very anal about their paperwork and are in TOTAL CONTROL of their finances.0 -
Hi. Im after a cheap Three contract, and was thinking of a 12 months free on a 12 month contract from buymobilephones.net
Now, from what others have said, the window for claiming cashback from this company is only 14 days (which apparently is stated on their vouchers which arrive with the phone). However, the following article states that the window must be 90 days: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/x-ray/sites/allarticles/updates/7p07_mobile.shtml
Other articles along similar lines (posted on here last month I think) include http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/content/14971.asp and http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/content/16407.asp
So, what do people make of this? I see that mobilerainbow have taken notice of Three's guidlines:
http://www.mobilerainbow.co.uk/terms_new.asp
"All the Cash back claims must reach us within 15 (Fifteen) days [90 (Ninety) Days in case of “3 Network”] from the bill date mentioned on the relevant bill for the relevant Cash back claim"
Has anyone recently taken out a Three contract from buymobilephones, and were there any special terms relating to Three specifically. Thanks0 -
Also, can anyone provide a direct link from Three stating their guidelines? Below is what I could find on the buymobilephones website regarding their claims procedure - note that clause 16.2a breaches Three's guidelines (see the bbc link in the first post)
16.1. Line rental refunds for 12 month contracts, text pack/bundle refunds and cash backs will be paid in four equal parts; on month five, month seven, month nine and month twelve of your contract by redemption of the appropriate voucher.
Make your claim by sending in your voucher together with your first five airtime bills within the time period set out on the first voucher, your following two airtime bills with your second voucher and your next two airtime bills with your third voucher .Finally your last three airtime bills with your fourth voucher. All claims should be received within the time period set out on each voucher. Acceptance of claims for the second, third and fourth instalment will depend on acceptance of all previous claims. Bills received after the period specified will not qualify for line rental refunds or cash backs. Bills must show no outstanding money from previous bills and Claims are subject to you remaining on the same pay monthly tariff as at the time of connection.
16.2a Only Original bills will be accepted. Please take copies before you send these bills to us as we will not be able to return them. We strongly advise you to send your bills by recorded delivery.0 -
Interesting post. I am however not too sure if a mobile operator can force tje retailer to accept its terms and conditions for cashback purposes. I think retailers are free to make up their own T&C however it has to be reasonable.
I asked BMP about 14 days being too tight for cashback claims and that it can easily be challenged under Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999. They have agreed that I can submit online print copies of bills for the claim. This concession does makes life a little bit easier for submitting cashback claims.0 -
Has anyone else come across this problem with the above.
I took out two mobiles via the above with Vodafone (500 min, 250 text).
They were both done via Quidco as two seperate transactions.
When the first bill arrived, because both phones which are in my name have both been created on the same account and so only one bill.
This being the case and their cash back criteria, it makes at least one of them void.
I have discussed it with Vodafone to see if they can send me seperate bills, they are looking into this but say that is how Buymobile set the account up.
If they have set it up that way then the cashback offer can never be applied and i would have a case in law against them.
Has anyone else come across this and how was it resolved?
To save hassle for anyone else next time with two phones make sure they are in different names.0
